This is a great hotel! Yes, the room is small. I would recommend he double room over the twin. This hotel is a remarkable value for a big city like Tokyo. It is less than a block from Bakurocho station of JR trains. Cabs readily available a block away. Multiple 7/11 type stores close by. A coffee shop a block away plus several small restaurants within two blocks. It's a very quiet hotel - I heard zero noise from the street, the next rooms or the hallway. The hotel is spotless. Bathrooms are compact but very functional. Plenty of hot water with great pressure and a handheld shower option. Deep soaking tub if you like that. Simple bidet toilet. Many amenities provided - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, foaming hand soap, fold up comb, q-tips, disposable razors, shower cap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, handi-wipe type washcloths, hair bands and cotton pads. No bar soap. Robes, slippers and blow dryer provided. Basic coffee, tea, sugar and hot pot in the little drawer over the mini fridge. (no mini bar). Plenty of towels and an efficient bathroom fan. There's a step up into the bathroom if you have mobility issues. The bathroom door is frosted glass but you can't see through it. There's a long, narrow desk with a chair and great lighting for makeup application. There are multiple outlets and a USB port right next to the bed.All room lighting is controlled by a panel next to the bed - very handy. Built in reading lamp. The TV is huge 50" flat screen. Only one channel in English - BBC, but the Japanese game shows and blooper shows are fun. The cleaning staff comes daily and replenishes the coffee/tea stuff and also leaves two bottles of water a day. There's a magnet to put on the door if you don't want cleaning and then they will leave fresh towels, etc in a bag outside your door. There is a hotel phone in the room. The bed is elevated for under bed storage and there's a luggage rack. There's no closet but there are at least 6 hangers on wall hooks. No drawers for clothes storage. The window opens a bit for fresh air. Blackout drapes. The duvet is fabulously comfortable but the pillows are the worst I ever slept on so consider buying one if you like a soft pillow and you'll be there a while. We asked for more/different pillows and they said they didn't have any but they did send up an extra blanket. Staff is very accommodating. Cordless alarm clock in the room. Nice security - 24 hour front desk and key card is required to go up in the elevator. Breakfast is optional in the small restaurant downstairs, but we didn't try it. Air conditioning is turned off in the winter but you can control air movement with fan controls located next to the bed. For those who have a fear of high rise hotel fires, every floor has a nearby exit to an outdoor staircase for quick and safe evacuation plus there is a funny plastic bag attached to inside of hotel doors to fill with air and place over our head so you get to the outdoor stairs safely. There's a mini flashlight next to the bed for emergencies. This hotel seems relatively new construction and has noticeable fire/smoke alarms so safety is really good here. Trouser press available in the hallway, that you can take to your room. Ice is only available on the first floor, cups are provided. There's a cold drink vending machine in the same area, along with a microwave. There's an ATM on the same street. Dry cleaning services are available but we didn't use them. The lobby is small with only two chairs. No hotel bar, but there are liquor stores in the area, and the 7/11 sells liquor and beer. The room has two drinking glasses along with disposable cups. This is an excellent choice if you aren't put off by the small rooms. I was very impressed with what we got for $42 a night. Don't hesitate if you are looking for affordable, extremely clean accommodations in a great area. This hotel is on the eastern side of Tokyo, close to Edo Museum, the Skytree...
Read moreThis hotel was a great disappointment even for me, a world traveler and a frequent visitor to Tokyo. I would definitely NOT stay there again, or recommend to any of my friends to spent a night at this hotel. || On the good side, the hotel is located one minute walk from a subway (if you know which exit to leave from since the hotel site doesn’t specify it), and surrounded by a few restaurants and convenient stores. It is also a clean hotel and the staff is very nice and helpful. || Yet all this is meaningless if you can’t relax over night. || To begin with, I have become accustomed to smaller hotels while traveling; nevertheless this hotel room was extremely tiny. The room (double bed room) is small especially for two people. It was hard for me to even walk around the room. Little space for a suitcase: without a chest, and place is at the most for a suitcase on the floor. || Nearly no space for your clothes: hangers on the wall only. || The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Pillows are too flat; they are about the thickness of a double folded towel and half as soft. || The internet was almost unusable from 19:30. My skype/LINE communication failed every two minutes or so. This was extremely annoying as I was on a business trip and had to communicate and respond to emails. The reception manager explained it by the fact that everyone in the hotel using the WIFI at the same time. He advised to wait until after 22:00 to have normal communication. This was a weird explanation: I could hardly hear such an excuse even in less developed countries I have visited recently as Thailand, Cambodia, and Philippines. || The coffee and cream provided as complimentary in the room were unpleasant to taste: The coffee tasted like a fish. Only paper cups are provided for this coffee (or complimentary tea): but one can’t hold a cup after pouring the hot water inside as the fingers got burned from the heat. || The flow of the water in the bath room is too strong. It can hardy be adjusted to slow stream. || Television: One can manipulate it as long as one can understand the Japanese language. || Notably, in every room there is a book written by the lady owner of the Hotel and on her success story of establishing and managing the chain of APA Hotels. For the price I have paid for this night in her hotel I would expect more consideration: a better WIFI service (upgrading the system, installing a WIFI in every floor), more comfy bed and pillows, normal cups and spoons (not of paper) for the coffee (and a more tasty coffee and tea), and some more space for the cloth to hang especially after a terrible rain made my cloth and coat wet. || In short, very disappointed and would rather recommend staying in a capsule hotel and pay one third of the price than staying in...
Read moreVery desparate the services of this APA Hotel because they had scheduled to clean up my room only on 10/7/2024 instead of daily base while my stay from 07-11/7/2024. You have to make a request by placing a green " Make the Room" mangetic plate in front of the door.
This means:-
They won't clean up the trash and the washroom baskets making the baskets overflow, vaccum and mop the floor and making up the bed out of the scheduled time span if you don't request. We are so worry of the hygiene!
Usually, they provide two bottles of distilled water daily. It nevertheless, provided only on the first day of our stay.
The most making me furious when asking help for the reason of my wife has have sick today. I asked help from the staff at the front desk whether they could ringe the Tokyo Station International Clinic after one of the lady staff members very helpfully had checked for me the address. Then, this staff had rushed to have something on. Thus, I asked another lady staff next nearby to ring the Clinic and made an appointment because it is a hardship for me in Japanese communication.
SURPRISED ME, she gave me a cold shoulder by telling me she wouldn't. Moreover, I took my wife to the Clinic after my booking by email looking from the web. (I would wonder whether the Clinic staff can reply me in English?)
This has never been the nightmare experience while my stay before in the APA Hotels.
Excepted to the vincinity accessible of this hotel near to the tubes, not only this Hotel, there are another good choices of accommodations can be considered.
I have had received a terribly disappointed reply from the APA Hotel in the meaning that they are stringently in their 3-day cleaning of room policy. That means they are not in the uttermost care to take into the cinsidertion of the hygienic situatiin in the still fear of COVID 19 pandemic, Freah - meat eating disease and flea infection. My heart-felt comment is in vain that APA Hotel foresakes to their loyal and long - history customer like me.
I don't mean to defame APA Hotel's credit in the public but expect APA to take the reasonable care of hygiene in priority to their tenants.
Even APA had promised to make up the room. It is sure they didn't carry out thier duly promise. The floor was not vacuumed and mopped on 10/7/2024 but just...
