This property was not my first choice when I made plans. As I researched, I found that Hirano and the northern area might have a better view of Fujisan, but they might be a bit out of the way (esp northern area) and cost more. When this property 'popped up' 2 weeks before my trip, I decided to give it a try since the rates were good. However, other than the couple of reviews from booking.com, and one from TripAdvisor, little information could be found on this property. I began to feel skeptical, especially when I was a solo traveller. Anyway, I went ahead.. ||||Take highway buses from Shinjuku or Fujikko-go sightseeing buses to Yamanakako Hirano, and it's about 5 minutes easy walk and access to the hotel. I was given a mountain-view room (my booking was without mountain-view) and the view with lake and Fujisan was fabulous. The spacious room was a little dated, but clean. The owner also set up a new set of kotatsu in my room. When it was freaking cold, I hate to use the shared bathroom and toilet cos the heater at the corridor was not strong (or maybe not even switched on). The facilities were clean and adequate. ||||Due to the low peak season, I was the only guest at the hotel. The owner was kind to have given me a ride to show me where to have dinner. He pointed 3 restaurants to me. There aren't many restaurants around Hirano. I'm unsure if they were closed due to the near-holidays. The next day it rained heavily. Upon check out, the uncle also gave me a ride to Morino Eki Asahigaoka so that I could continue my journey. (the bus stop at Hirano was a small one). ||||Though uncle spoke limited English, he was friendly and helpful. I'd recommend visitors to stay at...
Read moreLakeside Inn Fujinami was a literal dream! I am so beyond pleased with my stay. The view from my room of Mt Fuji was incredible and I was blessed to see two very beautiful sunrises during my stay. The morning and evening light which shone into the traditional tatami style room was incredible. It felt like I was in a Japanese movie! Everything I needed was there, a heater to keep me warm, a kotatsu so my legs could be toasty while I sat and ate my konbini food, a small TV (not that I used it), and a very warm and comfortable bed with traditional rice filled pillow. What made the stay absolutely unmatched to anything I have stayed in before, was the owner of the Minshuku Mr Amano-san. Such a cute and friendly man who always helped no matter what and loved having a chat! He even told me to download the app LINE so I could message him if I had any trouble while I was out (I rented a car and was driving around). He gave me laundry powder and a Japanese Mandarin (Mikan) and even told me that if we are going to be in Tokyo at the same time next week, he will treat me to a dinner! How nice! This place was not a hotel, it felt like home. Thankyou for such an amazing stay and I cannot wait...
Read more😊: Our stay at this beautiful hotel near Mount Fuji was truly perfect in every way. From the moment we arrived, the owner welcomed us with incredible warmth and went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed — from local tips to little thoughtful gestures that made all the difference.
The house itself had absolutely everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. I especially loved the traditional Japanese design — sleeping on the tatami mats, the sliding doors, the attention to detail in every corner. It felt like stepping into another world, peaceful and full of charm.
And then there’s the view — waking up to see Mount Fuji right outside the window was simply breathtaking. It’s something I’ll never forget.
If you’re looking for a serene, authentic, and welcoming experience with world-class views, this is the place. Can’t recommend it enough!. 😢: It’s a quiet area so restaurants in walking distance are limited (but available!). Has a...
