Naeba La Neige — Hotel in Yuzawa

We are a family from France and stayed here with our entire family of 5 for four nights during December. We’ve stayed at very many different resorts and hotels over the years, but as you can imagine - for a large family setup we have some specific needs.

First off regarding the owners of the accommodation, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome that we got. In Japan you usually see the type of service that’s very polite and proper on the surface with no real hospitality behind it, but at La Neige it was genuine engagement that we had with the owners and that was a nice touch that we miss these days.

Also don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the rooms, because at the end of the day good quality mattresses and pillows are amazing to have when you are tired from a whole day on the mountains. With the quality beds and bedding we were able to stay warm and were able to get some refreshing rest during the night.

Food at La Neige was also all homemade dishes that was perfect for our children and the family overall. No silly over-the-top fanciness, but honest home cooking that is hard to find when you are on the road and traveling.

If you are a fan of Salomon Skiing equipment, good news is that they have very good quality rental gear as well for a reasonable price. If you consider that the skiing resort of Naeba is within walking distance (although if you have kids I highly suggest driving there - even though it’s close), you have great beds, a warm room, great food, and high quality rental gear all in one place - it’s really hard to beat!

Our plans is to come back here in the warmer months later in the year so that we can also see the mountain without the snow and have a new experience of Naeba.

Overall I highly recommend this accommodation for those of you who are looking for a nice cozy place to stay with a welcoming atmosphere. I wouldn’t recommend this for hipster city dwelling young couples to go on their honeymoon, but if you are here with family it’s a great...
