Naeba Springs Hotel — Hotel in Yuzawa

Party of 3 stayed for 7 nights in one room.||||Booked this hotel simply because of availability. We decided very last minute to go snowboarding and had a hard time getting flights and hotels. Booked this hotel because they were the only one available. So glad we did.||||The hotel is more like a very good, very nice guest house. Very clean and comfortable. The host / owner Yutaka Kawano was very helpful pre-stay and very accommodating while we were at the hotel. The hotel has their own rental shop and large drying rooms. Location is very good, just a short walk to the Naeba Ski Resort. There is a large comfortable lounge with a nice log burning fire which we had to ourselves most of the time.||||Rooms are large but a little basic. The TV was about the same size as my iPad which we didn’t use it so didn’t really matter. Bathroom toiletries are a little sparse, toothbrushes and little sashes of shampoo only, so you need to bring your own show gel (or buy it from the local convenience store). Can chose between western style and Japanese style rooms. Japanese style have rattan flooring and futons. Western rooms have carpet and beds.||||All the staff are excellent and very accommodating. Yutaka Kawano went out of his way to make sure we were looked after. He picked us up at the bus stop when we arrived, and he took us back when we departed. He was very patient with us when hiring snowboarding equipment and sat with us one evening in the bar and offered us free taster drinks. ||||On the first day I asked for coffee with breakfast. The staff remembered this and gave us coffee automatically for the rest of the stay. During our stay it was my wife’s birthday and the hotel arranged dinner with a birthday cake which was very nice.||||We all had a wonderful stay here.||||||All in all, a really nice hotel run by very nice people.||Do we recommend this hotel? very warm and friendly staff there. It is not new and huge hotel, but the staff are definitely out of my expectations. We arrived at night in winter time with heavy snow, hotel boss arranged a free dinner for us, this was a really kind act! ||Before arrival, I sent email to hotel and the boss replied promptly. Hotel staff can speak little English, but it is good enough.||||Room is clean and big with all you need (hair dryer, separated toilet, bath area and washing basin. Comfortable bed and pillow.||||Hotel also has ski equipment rental, lift tickets, all in a very low price (a lot lower than ski resort). My son accidentally broke ski pole and the boss even didn't ask us to pay! I really don't think I can find anyone nicer than him!||||Shuttle from hotel to ski slope in the morning and return in the afternoon. Actually, it is just 5 mins walk way from ski slope, very convenient. There are a small restaurant in the hotel, breakfast different everyday, from Japanese to Western, big portion.||At the basement level there is a huge bath area, very relaxing after a tiring ski day!||||Wifi in common room, it also has a grand piano, projector and vcd/dvd for children to watch cartoon (in Japanese I guess), Nice and cozy fireplace that made you feel very warm in winter time. There are microwave, vending machines, water boiler, green tea bag and instant coffee at the ground level. ||||Highly recommend Naeba Spring Hotel. Definitely...
