I arrived at Rocky Mountain Hotel as a tourist, but from the very first moment, I was welcomed like family. This isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a place to connect, learn, and feel truly at home. And the heart of it all? Mahmoud, the owner, a man whose warmth and hospitality turn this hotel into something truly special.
Mahmoud isn’t just a hotel owner; he’s a storyteller, a philosopher, and an adventurer. His life itself is an inspiration—he was the first person to free solo climb the ruins of Petra, an achievement as breathtaking as the views from his hotel. He’s also an author, and his book is one that touches the soul. Conversations with him are more than just small talk—they are deep, insightful, and filled with wisdom on philosophy, religion, and life itself.
But his hospitality goes beyond the walls of the hotel. Thanks to his recommendation, I had one of the best meals of my trip—even as a non-meat eater, I was guided to a dish so incredible that it will stay with me forever. And the cherry on top? I dined at a table where even the queen has sat!
Staying at Rocky Mountain Hotel isn’t just about finding a comfortable place to rest—it’s about immersing yourself in the culture, history, and wisdom of Petra. I will definitely return, and next time, I’m bringing friends and family. If you want a place that offers more than just a bed, a place that truly touches your heart, this is where...
Read moreWe recently stayed here and I cannot recommend this boutique family owned hotel enough! When we asked whether they had a kettle, they personally went and fetched us two mugs of hot water for tea. Nothing was too much trouble and it's little gestures like that, that makes a hotel feel more like a home. The hotel is extremely convenient for self driving, the free parking was across the road and was only about 4 mins to Petra visitors centre. Thank you for the beautiful hospitality and we hope to...
