I arrived at Rocky Mountain Hotel as a tourist, but from the very first moment, I was welcomed like family. This isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a place to connect, learn, and feel truly at home. And the heart of it all? Mahmoud, the owner, a man whose warmth and hospitality turn this hotel into something truly special. Mahmoud isn’t just a hotel owner; he’s a storyteller, a philosopher, and an adventurer. His life itself is an inspiration—he was the first person to free solo climb the ruins of Petra, an achievement as breathtaking as the views from his hotel. He’s also an author, and his book is one that touches the soul. Conversations with him are more than just small talk—they are deep, insightful, and filled with wisdom on philosophy, religion, and life itself. But his hospitality goes beyond the walls of the hotel. Thanks to his recommendation, I had one of the best meals of my trip—even as a non-meat eater, I was guided to a dish so incredible that it will stay with me forever. And the cherry on top? I dined at a table where even the queen has sat! Staying at Rocky Mountain Hotel isn’t just about finding a comfortable place to rest—it’s about immersing yourself in the culture, history, and wisdom of Petra. I will definitely return, and next time, I’m bringing friends and family. If you want a place that offers more than just a bed, a place that truly touches your heart, this is where you need to be.

This hotel has everything you want, and more! Locally owned family like hotel, with helpful staff. Everyone is very kind. You have to listen to their stories about their homeland and their life inside Petra! If you come here, you get a bed, you get food, and a beautiful view over Wadi Musa and the mountains where Petra lies. But if you engage in conversation, you get something much, much more. You get a glimpse of the life of the bedouin people, a real knowledge of the culture and their lifes and struggles. If you come here, you will leave with treasures of learning about a new culture. Petra and Jordan opens up to you, and you get a glimpse of the reality of it, not just the facade. And it's even more beautiful, complicated, and rich than you thought before!

The hot water only works until 10 p.m. and will be available again in the morning. Breakfast is only served until nine in the morning. The power sockets in the rooms are difficult to access. There is hardly enough current to charge the battery. If the accommodation doesn't adapt to the tourists, it will be difficult. The location is in the hills, beautiful view, and has a balcony to sit and relax. The only downside is that the bed is a mesh spring that hasn't been lubricated at all. Makes loud noises when turning Overall considered not bad. But I still want it to be better.

We recently stayed here and I cannot recommend this boutique family owned hotel enough! We checked in late after attending petra at night and they were kind enough to extend the hot water so we could shower. My husband asked for some baklava shop recommendations to visit the following day and they were so kind, they delivered a plate of sweets to our room! When we asked whether they had a kettle, they personally went and fetched us two mugs of hot water for tea. Nothing was too much trouble and it's little gestures like that, that makes a hotel feel more like a home. The hotel is extremely convenient for self driving, the free parking was across the road and was only about 4 mins to Petra visitors centre. Thank you for the beautiful hospitality and we hope to...
