This property could easily have been a 4/5 for us, but unfortunately, the behaviour of the owner really let this down. I will try to still be as fair as I can in this review and not give it a 1 star just for a single reason.||||The Good:||Location was good for us as it meant that we didn’t have to go into the crazy downtown traffic. There was ample free parking available nearby and the supermarket next door is well stocked for all your needs for supplies. It meant that we didn't have to go into the town to buy snacks or drinks.||||The room itself is decent with good AC and incredibly comfortable beds, which we needed after the long days in Petra. There was good hot water available in the shower and to give credit where it's due, the owner helped us carry our luggage into the rooms and served us some complimentary bedouin tea and snacks.||||The packed breakfast was also pretty good. We were given that for free because we were leaving for Petra before the breakfast started. It consisted of a bun with turkey slices, a cupcake, a drink, an apple, and a water bottle. Obviously nothing luxurious about it, but it helped us get through Petra without buying some super expensive food there. Only weird thing was a whole tomato in our breakfast bag, which we were confused about.||||We also used the laundry facilities and were happy with the service, although it was pretty pricy and priced per individual item.||||THE BAD||First of all, this is not a hotel but rather a guesthouse. There is a communal kitchen with a dining table for 12 people and the fridge is shared between all rooms as well as the staff and the bathrooms are also shared for most rooms (we were lucky to have the en-suite but found out some others were told about en-suite rooms but didn't get one). So selling this as a hotel is quite a misrepresentation.||||Soundproofing in the rooms is really bad. You’ll be woken up at 7am because the breakfast staff will be preparing it and causing a lot of noise. Our room was right next to the kitchen, so we got a lot of noise there. Breakfast was very limited in terms of the choices, but we weren’t particularly picky so it didn’t matter too much to us, but I can imagine some guests may not like it.||||A lot of items in the bathroom were really loose. It looked like it was just a matter of tightening them. None of the shelves or hooks were properly fixed to the wall, so it was a bit difficult to place anything in the bathroom. This is something that can easily be fixed, but not sure why no attention was paid to this. The shower was a bit strange. I think it was a seated bath, but it was uncomfortable to either sit or stand in it because it had a tiny step in it to enable you to sit.||||Now to the most shocking part: A couple of days after we checked out of this place, Ahmad started emotionally blackmailing us for good reviews. This was incredibly poor behaviour and something we’ve never seen before. He said he’d lose his job if we didn’t give him full star rating. Just being honest and asking your customers to provide honest feedback would be better and you might end up with an even better rating than if you emotionally blackmail us.||||He was also quite pushy on us booking tours through him as well as when we shared our plan for Petra, he was quite pushy in trying to persuade us to change our plan. We had done enough research to know how and what we want to see, but he tried to convince us to start late on day 1 and instead early on day 2. Thankfully we still followed our own plan. Ahmad also tried convincing us that Petra actually opened at 6.30, so we should just have breakfast at 6am. This wasn’t true because Petra opens up at 6am. Once again, thankfully we didn’t follow his advice.||||Also, we told Ahmad 2 hours in advance what our arrival time would be and he said he was waiting for us. Once we arrived, we found out that nobody was at the hotel and we couldn’t get through to him either. We ended up waiting a good 10 minutes in the car before he arrived. In the grand scheme, however, this was a tiny point given the above mentioned points.||||Overall, my suggestion is that if the owner became more genuine and let people give genuine reviews, they would probably get better...
Read moreAlright, let me spill the beans on my recent stay at the Over Mountains Hotel in Wadi Musa. Brace yourselves, folks, 'cause it was a major disappointment in more ways than one. Prepare for the tea on this colossal letdown.
Let's start with the hotel staff. Seriously, did they attend a crash course in how to be unhelpful and unprofessional? 'Cause they aced it. They couldn't care less about making guests feel welcome. I mean, you'd think they were doing us a favor by just acknowledging our existence. It's a real shame when the people paid to assist you act like you're a pesky fly buzzing around.
Now, let's talk breakfast, or should I say, breakfast fail. Imagine this: a table of eight hungry souls eagerly awaiting a decent morning meal. And what do we get? A pathetic excuse for breakfast. One lousy egg for the entire table. Are they on a mission to starve their guests? And don't get me started on the quality. Stale bread, lackluster fruit, and coffee that tasted like dishwater. Talk about a serious food fiasco.
Cleanliness? Yeah, that was a joke. The rooms were a hot mess. Carpets that hadn't seen a vacuum in ages, dusty furniture that looked like it hadn't been touched since the Dark Ages, and an aroma that made me question if I'd stumbled into a landfill. It's like the housekeeping staff took a vacation and left the cleaning to the dust bunnies.
Let's not forget the so-called amenities they boasted about. The Wi-Fi? More like Wi-Fail. It was slower than a snail on tranquilizers. Trying to get some work done? Good...
Read moreFor the Hotel category, poor services! For the breakfast, we arranged early in the morning,... there was no one and nothing prepared, we waited half an hour, then we called on whats app and were told that the guy who prepares the breakfast was late...he came in the next 10 minutes, asleep and upset that he had to prepare something, we asked for omelette, he was looking for a pan, and he kept asking us, because he didn't speak well English...anyway, at breakfast we were only 2 people, among some jars with dry contents and some unattractive bowls with something inside , and we left, because we lost our appetite! The next day we gave up breakfast from the start, to avoid the same situation...! No one greets you when you arrive or when you leave, you have to call on whats app or call in the hall, otherwise you are alone... there are 2 people, one is always sleepy - the ,, responsible for the breakfast,,. When leaving, we didn't have anyone to leave the key, so again, we called on whats app and woke up the ,,breakfast responsible,, who took the key. And we had breakfast in town. A nasty experience. We can't call that Hotel ! And the high price is...
