This place was very simple but great. It had everything we needed. I was on a 2 weeks trip to Kenya and stayed in Nairobi for part of the trip and this was the perfect place for that. The rooms were very basic (we stayed in the apartment side, but I think the hotel rooms are slightly nicer/a little more upgraded with better wifi).||||The staff was very great. They had a delicious breakfast every morning available, and there was also wonderful coffee/tea (Chai). I enjoyed the bar at night and the atmosphere was very nice- relaxed, and chill. Wycliff is the BEST and most hardworking bartender.||||There was a nice pool with shaded chairs and tables along the poolside. The pool was a little cold, but I still jumped in to do some laps. It was very lovely- a lot of flowers and beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel and apartment grounds- they keep it up very nicely. I spent a lot of time sitting on the outdoor patio outside of the hotel journaling and reading. ||||Although the rooms were very basic, I really slept well each night. It was quiet, and the beds were comfortable. I did bring my own pillow on this trip though, as I have a hard time sleeping on pillows provided by hotels. The hotel staff was even nice enough to help me do some laundry during my stay since I started running out of clothes. I made sure to give them a nice tip! The showers were good- the water gets nice and hot. If your room is missing something or if you need assistance, I would suggest going down to the front desk- there is always someone there and they will help you as soon as possible. They accommodated us very well. I think the hotel/apartments here have a lot of potentional and could be jazzed up a little more, but overall I really love this place. It was my second time staying here in 2 years, and I enjoyed it very much! ||||Food tip: the veggie samosas for a fun appetizers are really good, and for breakfast we did the Mandazi bread (ask for it magi: aka hot) and the sausages were really great with tea and coffee! Kivi is in a nice good central location in Nairobi. For dinner I'd highly HIGHLY recommend walking a few blocks down from the apartment side of Kivi to Oakleys grill. The Nyama Choma was just absolutely amazing there. If you don't want to walk, it's just a short 2 minute Uber ride. :)||||Everyone was so kind, helpful and generous at this place. I'd suggest giving the staff a nice tip after the week since they do so much work to help keep your rooms clean, carry your luggage for you, store things for you in a secure room if needed, etc. ||||Bonus: The wifi works well here also! :)||||We will be coming back to Kivi next time that...
Read moreThe reviews written about Kivi Milimani previously are no longer so accurate. My visit this week to the hotel noted significant changes for the better. The hotel is undergoing an upgrade in service provision. Still very reasonable rates! WiFi has been boosted and now has a strong, speedy, signal. The food has improved as well and whilst not haute d’ cuisine it is well prepared and tasty. Menu prices are extremely reasonable. The hotels location is great for getting around Nairobi and is in a secure neighbourhood of Nairobi where I feel perfectly safe walking to nearby shops and pubs. Normal, common sense precautions apply of course. The swimming pool is another plus and the hotel gardens are green and leafy. Amazing to know your located in the centre of the city. Staff are very friendly and the hotel manager is extremely helpful and attentive. Great atmosphere in the bar area with locals and guests creating a convivial social atmosphere. I’m told more positive changes are coming soon so It’s only going to get better moving forward. Definitely a good 3-4 star establishments in a great location. Highly recommended...
Read moreOn the one hand this hotel is perfectly located, quiet with lush green and spacious surroundings with many birds that will wake you up in the morning, and it has well maintained and excellent pool with a helpful and friendly pool manager. On the other hand the hotel has clearly known better days! I have come here often over the last 10 years - and not much has happened in terms of maintemance during that time. The hotel is very worn and not well cared for. On the other hand, the price is reasonable when you contact the hotel directly instead of going through the booking sites - which I find a bit strange. My rating is fairly positive because of that - and because of the positive sides that it has. I think this hotel deserves better - with an open mind and a bit of persistence you can get the help required to fix small defects in the room. Such a pity though that the huge potential is...
