My family and I spent 4 days / 3 nights at Mara Serena and had a lovely time.
The lodge is the only one in the Mara Triangle with amazing views from all over the property. There is an airstrip 5 mins away. It’s really an excellent location.
The accommodations and the staff are very lovely. Mary, the concierge who plans all activities, is a truly wonderful person and extremely helpful. There is a reasonably-priced spa, nice gym, and outdoor pool with beautiful views. The game drive guides are world class and extremely well-trained. We also personally met the executive chef and the hotel manager, who greeted us and were very present during our stay.
The food is all served buffet style but it is very good - excellent meats and a wide variety of other options. My mom and girlfriend, both vegetarians, had no problems eating. The restaurant is very spread out and there are outdoor private dining balconies.
We did almost all of the activities they offer and I would highly recommend them all - regular game drive, night game drive, escarpment hike, nature walk, Maasai village tour, sundowners, hippo breakfast, and starlight dinner. The game drives were excellent - we did three total (1 morning, 1 afternoon, and 1 night). Saw the big 5 plus all of the other animals you would want to see on safari. A quick note - Mara Serena is the only place with permission to do a night game drive in the triangle.
Tl;dr - this place was truly excellent and we can’t wait to come back.
