The hotel is located in a culdesac of a regular neighborhood with car repair shops and dirt sidewalks. It's 10 minute or so walk to a nice park. Some of the front desk staff speak English but the dislike being there. The hotel has a 50's nostalgic feel to it whether on purpose or not. The rooms are clean but smallish. The bathrooms are acceptable. There was hot water and good water pressure. My hard mattress had a body size indentation in the middle of it that I had to commit to sleeping within for the night or roll up out of temporarily only to be sucked back in a moment later.
There is a hallway door that directly accesses a convenience store next door which was super useful. The dining room breakfast was very basic. Freeze dried coffee for days. There is a gym on the 3rd floor which is actually very good for what it is. There is an older combo stacked weight machine. A free weight bench press and a preacher bench. Not enough free weight plates for a good workout. There's a good cross over cable machine. Some basic low weight dumbells. Treadmills, a heavy weight bag and a ping pong table. The terrace top room is airy and bright but gets hot pretty quickly in the summer. I didn't see an AC or a water fountain. The terrace itself is private, airy with views of tree tops and some relaxing seating options.
The pool was empty while I was there. It was being worked on. I would caution you not to use the massage therapist. The front desk said she does sports massage, yet she told me that's what they like to say. She gave me a mediocre massage, while constantly trying to talk to me. A lot of slapping and trying to bend my limbs. She didn't use her thumbs, didn't kneed nor use her elbows, no pressure points despite me asking. Then she tried to give me her WhatsApp number so I could contact her directly cause the hotel takes a percentage. A wasted time. She must not have had any formal massage training. There is a sauna but you have to pay for it by the hour. The front desk can exchange money for you but don't expect great rates.
Overall. The hotel is clean. The staff responsive yet seemingly unfulfilled. Seemingly lots of locals as guests. If you have a short stay it...
Read moreWe stayed at Hotel Rich for a night on our arrival in the magnificent Kyrgyzstan and another night on our return from adventures around the country. The hotel arranged a taxi service for us at 700 KG Som that was waiting for us at the airport with our name emblazoned across a plaque. On arrival at the hotel, a kind man carried our luggage up to our room. The beds were comfortable, the rooms clean and the decor was very pleasant. The receptionists were helpful and the breakfast had a variety of food from which to choose from. ||||The hotel was busy with various foreigners from all across the world, including Japanese doctors, older European adventurers with Dragoman Travel and some central Asians. It felt like a good base from which to share knowledge and travel experiences. ||||The rooms were fully air conditioned with a wonderful shower room. There was also a gym room, a nice terrace and a swimming pool that my son enjoyed swimming in, although it was a little dirty and was in need of a clean.||||The location was quite central and within walking distance of the famous Osh Bazaar. A little further is the Ala Too Square but a taxi ride ordered over the phone from the square cost us only 50 KG Som. ||||The hotel cost us around £46 at the exchange rate of the time which was 82 KG Som to the pound. We paid 3800 KG Som, which felt very reasonable for the high standard of the hotel. We would definitely...
Read moreFor the price paid - everything was adequate. The pool wasn't functioning, though I think it is suitable enough, weather-wise to justify its opening. The room was better than the internet-pictures suggest. The shower was big and there was a fridge, TV, and kettle, along with tea. The single bed was wider than most singles which is a plus, and the window view was better than most. The place seemed in need of some maintenance which is no-doubt in similitude to other hotels given the last two years. The hairdryer was literally falling to pieces, and there was a large stain on one towel. The lock to the room door was also very shaky and the bathroom mirror is detaching from the wall. Everything was generally fine except the staff (night and day) who all looked depressed and none of whom smiled even once. The breakfast was slightly below average for the largeness of the hotel too. For the price I paid - the all-round...
