This is quite possibly the coolest hostel experience Karakol has to offer! The host Jalil and his wife are so knowledgeable about the city and mountains. I think they know everyone in town! They hooked us up with Horseback riding in the mountains and a true бана experience. They are so hospitable and care about their guests. They love to just chat and talk with you while you are in the hostel and will not lead you astray while you stay in Karakol! The hostel itself is in an excellent location if you want to see the city and be in the mountains. Trail access is 2 miles away and the city center is about 1 mile. Hostel was very clean and well kept. They do breakfast in the morning that is affordable and homemade by Jalils wife. She is amazing! Take some time to stay here and get to know the hosts, you...
Read moreVery welcoming host family in a well located cozy house. Our room was well equipped and warm, with private bathroom and showers. There is a common room for eating, and a well-equipped kitchen (pans, microwave, stove, fridge, coffee machine, etc) available for guests to use. The host family speaks fluent English, Russian, Spanish (of course Kyrgyz) and some French - so perfect for any international traveler. They also offer horse-riding tours and will be available for tips for activities in the region Karakol. Bonus: if you’re an avid chess player, the family (and the daughters) will challenge you to a good game. Thank you very much for this...
Read moreWe had a cosy and awesome stay at Snow Leopard for a total of 4 days (as we hiked the Alakul Lake hike in between). Jalil and his wife Azada were very friendly, warm, helpful to us and provided heaps of information about our hike and our journey around Kyrgyzstan. The hostel kept us warm and comfortable in our rooms and dining area - breakfast was delicious too. Beds were comfortable and there was sufficient blankets. There was also laundry service provided for a fee. Overall, whether you’re in a group or solo traveller, this hostel is a great place to rest comfortably and socialise with other travellers! We will...
