Argo Guest House. — Hotel in Karakol City

BEWARE OF THEFT !!

Pros: The property is beautiful, room was nice and breakfast was scrumptuous.

Cons: After checking in, we locked our room and went for dinner. After we came back, I noticed that my bags had been opened while we were away. I then noticed that my AirPods, my MacBook charger and some cash was missing. I immediately informed our guide and while we were talking, we noticed the lady working there was about to leave with her bags. Our guide immediately confronted her and when the owner's daughter searched her bags, my stolen stuff was found with her.

The next morning, when the owners arrived, she told our guide that the said employee was relatively new and will be fired. They didn't even offer a simple apology, forget offering any goodwill gesture for the trauma that was caused because of their employee. Even though an employee stole my stuff, I believe the eventual accountability and responsibility lies with property owner to do background checks to ensure safety of guests and their belongings. It was my alertness to notice that the employee was about to leave the property and potentially my belongings along with her, which would never ever have then been recovered.

This traumatic experience and the fact that the owners barely acknowledged how serious of an issue it was, and did not think it was serious enough to offer a formal apology directly to me, forget any goodwill gesture or compensation. They barely looked remorseful considering the seriousness of the incident. I will never ever stay at this property and would NOT recommend anyone else to stay here either for...

A long but hopefully fair review.

This place was our second guesthouse in Karakol since the first guesthouse was fully booked. We were allowed to check in at 11am which was nice. Limited covered shelter for bikes in the premises.

Place is immaculate but they have a small, shouty dog which chased me and bit me twice in the leg as I entered the guesthouse in the afternoon. Honestly, I forgot the dog existed as I walked in and was shocked by what happened after. The second lab dog was lovely. I’m surprised at the lack of acknowledgement from the hosts, and that they never apologised.

Breakfast was great. The helper served us breakfast was very sweet and polite. I approached the lady host as we were leaving the next morning about the dog incident, hoping that she will put up signs at the gate to either warn guests about dogs, or to request guests to ring the bell before entering. This incident could have been avoided.

Again, she did not apologise, she just put up a big smile and just said thank you. It didn’t look like she will take that feedback, which is why I’m posting here as a...
