We stayed at Karagat Hotel during our Silk Road journey as our first stop in Kyrgyzstan, arriving by land from Almaty to Karakol. This was an overnight stopover as part of our travel through the mountain areas, and we knew that hotel options in Karakol are limited.||Having experienced a wide range of accommodations—from luxury to basic—this hotel unfortunately did not meet our expectations.||Room Conditions & Maintenance:|The hotel felt poorly maintained overall. We had issues with our shower head which we had to hold|while standing in the bathtub trying to take a shower, other room toilet didn’t flash, but housekeeping staff & handyman race de responded quickly and resolved it. We saw at least four rooms, and they varied greatly in size. Most common were twin rooms, but a few were very large rooms with king-sized beds—almost too large, giving a feeling of wasted space or unfinished design.||The interior design was lacking, especially when ethnic ornament’s are relatively easy to implement in Kyrgyzstan. In our room, the curtains were torn in several places and there were no proper blackout curtains, which affected sleep quality. These details left a poor impression.||Breakfast & Service:|I personally skipped breakfast, but those in our group who did eat described it as nothing special—just a basic meal. On the upside, staff were friendly and helpful, which did make a difference.||Conclusion:|If you’re just passing through Karakol and need a bed and accommodating staff for a night, this hotel might suffice. But if you’re planning to stay more than one night or are looking for comfort and style, I’d recommend exploring other...
Read moreWe were offered a Villa as we arrived at night||Our experience that night|- no water in the rooms|- no room slipper was placed|- the carpet was extremely dirty|- the phone wasn't working||So we clearly had to walk yo the receptionist to tell them that we need these. They told us water is out of stock and they have one bottle so they can give us that. Clearly, there is no grocery store close by, and it's a distance. They arranged the slipper but not the phone.||Next day morning, we realised that the flush in one of the bathrooms isn't working. We had a tour so we had to rush. We asked the receptionist, and she said in an hours time. So it wa inconvenient for us to keep waiting for someone to fix it and we use done rest room (ofxoure a family), for this, I wished we had a different room at the main hotel. So we when complained the manager came and started screaming in russian that they leave the hotel and go else where if its so much problem rather than apologising for the delay or the inconvenience. When we somehow translated them that we will put this in reviews. Our room was fixed and much cleaner that the previous days, phone fixed etc... there is an aircon in one bedroom on the 1st floor and living room for people who need them. I have rated them 1 because of the tone and behaviour of the manager while the other employees were little accommodating and polite. Things can go 5 please fix them and don't remove the frustration on the guest. (Before u ask ur guests to leave, think about money they gave u, the inconvenience they had,...
Read moreThis hotel looks nice but everything that matters doesn't work. The showers can't stay a sensible temperature - either scalding or freezing. Air conditioning is via a freestanding unit that isn't terribly effective as it needs to be filled with water but they don't do this for you and all the buttons on it are in Chinese. Our toilet cistern didn't refill automatically so we had to open it and do it manually every time. The kettle and fridge cables didn't reach the plug sockets. Breakfast doesn't start until 8am and even if your tour guide requests a 10 min early start from the manager so you can leave at 8am it doesn't happen. They were extremely reluctant to provide 2 keys for a twin room. Unhelpful staff. And the WiFi is not fit for purpose. It says on the website that there's a gym and pool but there isn't. It's been refurbished so addressing these issues wouldn't be too difficult. It has potential but currently it's terrible. There must be...
