Liena Cottages — Hotel in Jūrmala

We were a party of 6 friends who booked the Tradition Cottage in Majori, Jurmala. We chose Jurmala as an alternative to Riga because we did not want to stay in the big city. When you arrive at the cottage, the owner meets you to give you the keys and show you around the cottage. The support and service from the owners during our stay was excellent. During our stay we had a problem with one of the showers and within just one hour someone was there to sort it out for us. It seems that this is a summer cottage and there is no central heating, only electric radiators. So a winter holiday here may not be practical. However, for us in May the weather was fine and we were not cold at all. A little bit negative was that the cottage on the outside looked a bit scruffy and needed a coat of paint (hopefully it has been re-painted by now!). Inside the cottage it was spacious and had everything we needed. On the ground floor there is an adequately equipped kitchen with fridge, 4 ring hob cooker, electric kettle, microwave and toaster. Also on the ground floor there are 2 shower rooms with wash basins and toilets. There was a decent sized living/dining room with a large table and chairs. 2 bedrooms; 1 single and 1 with a bunk bed for 2/3 persons. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms; 2 double rooms, plus 1 single room and 1 twin room. So we had plenty of space, each of us having our own bed room which was great. We did not do much cooking while we were there after discovering the main street in Majori, Jurmala. It is a ‘pedestrian only’ (Jomas iela) street with plenty of bars and restaurants. So the cottage is situated in a very good location. It is 2 minutes walk to the main street and 5 minutes walk to the very long and sandy beach of Jurmala. In the bars and restaurants the staff speak English. Food and drink is very reasonably priced and of a good standard. There is a supermarket at the top end of Jomas iela street, which is about 10 minutes walk from the cottage and it stocks most items you will need. Most evenings we ate Bar-B-Que style meat, chicken or fish with various sauces, salad and lovely roast vegetables in the Senator Restaurant on the main street. The service and food was very good, also reasonably priced. So we did not bother cooking food for ourselves in the evenings. We tried the food at one of the Sushi restaurants at the top of the street. Although it looked posh and was more expensive, we ended up disappointed because the food was not as good as it was at the Senator restaurant. The cottage location is quite well placed for getting into Riga. It is about a 30 minute (very reasonably priced) train journey into Riga. We took the train from the station at the top end of Jomas iela street. Our initial intention of the holiday was to visit Riga every day, but with the nice restaurants, bars and live music of Jurmala we sort of felt more at home in Jurmala and loved it there. We stayed at cottage tradition on Victorijas Iela. The location was excellent as we drove into jurmala and found the cottage very easily. The cottage was also very close to the lively pedestrianised 'strip' which has a great range of bars, shops and restaurants. The beach was uncrowded in mid-august and has good sand. ||The cottage was quite expensive although we were 6 people in a 12 person house. Still, the house is quite tatty and drab. The finishing could also be improved (shower fitting and coat hook both broke with minimal touch). hot water was not plentiful when we all showered in the morning. ||On the plus side, the beds were very comfy, the kitchen well equipped and the satellite tv popular with our kids. There were bath and beach towels for us all and some apple juice and mineral water awaiting...

Ужасно.Для ОЧЕНЬ непривередливых туристов.Все требует ремонта и замены.Грязные шторы, покрывала, матрасы порваны.Сами починили туалет.Бачок тек , были огромные лужи на полу, что очень небезопасно.Кухонный уголок только название.В прихожей поставили стол и холодильник, нет рукомойника и плиты.Каждый раз помыть руки или фрукты нужно подыматься на второй этаж в душевую.Посуды мало и была грязная.Нет соли , сахара и тем более самых дешевых чайных пакетиков.Сейф есть, но нет ключа.После наших не одноразовых просьб о сушилке для белья, не стали просить ключ от сейфа.Месторасположение плюс рядом с центром.Минус -дом на перекрестке., на главной дороге.Рядом железная дорога.Шум очень мешает.Окна нельзя держать открытыми.Был сюрприз.Включили отопление при 25 тепла.Наверное хотели нам сделать как лучше.Наши рекомендации.Не ориентироваться на отзывы.Видимо пишут друзья и знакомые.И никто не проверяет соответствует ли это...
