Nov 16-30, 2020.||The best way to get quarantined in Beirut (in my case at least) is to stay at La Vida Suites. That’s exactly what I planned from NYC prior to my arrival back home to Beirut. ||Thanks to Bassam (General Manager) who I contacted from the US to secure my reservation after failed attempts at Booking.com and hotel.com and other sites. It turns out that the best way to book is by contacting the hotel directly. |You’ll receive better customer service, better contacts and more deals.|||I told him exactly what I wanted especially after seeing the pictures online, I decided to stay in that locale. I have seen the area before many times. My sister lives up the road and my family not far off. ||After 30 hours of flights. Layovers, flight delays, running around to 3 different flight gates (they were far apart-from each other). Arriving later than scheduled time to Beirut. Got help with my 4 luggages and my driver was waiting for me to help me get to my final destination so I could sleep my jet lag away. Arrived to La Vida Suites which was close to midnight. Glad to have also planned car service - thanks to my ride. The staff helped me with my luggage while I went to pay for my confirmed reservation. ||After I checked in and went upstairs to crash and slept soundly - fast forward to the next day. Opened up the curtains and there it was the most beautiful view of Mediterranean Sea and the Pigeon Rocks I woke up to after my horrific long flight ordeals. I told Bassam if I were to be quarantined for 2 weeks in a hotel. This is what I wanted. To be able to breathe some Sea breeze and look at the wide angle view of the sea, skies, and the city instead of staring at 4 walls. I am glad I made this choice. La Vida delivers and it gained a new loyal customer. Even though my family live 3 minutes away. This is my perfect antidote to long hours of flights and getting over jet lag. And I’ll be doing this routine every time I’m back. Even though I haven’t seen my patents till a week later but we F/T daily. My mom delivered food to my hotel room with my sisters before I arrived to the hotel - everything was placed in the fridge ready for me to have while stuck indoors for a while. ❤️ to my wonderful parents from Beirut. My family members came to visit 2 at a time and everyone loved the hotel with the views. ||My advice is to book directly with the hotel of choice instead of those online services. You get deals and much personable connection that way. ||I extended my stay 2 more night so a total of 16 nights I stayed but gotta be with my family. I managed to arrive a day or 2 after citywide lockdown. And spent lockdown in La Vida Suites Beirut - and left the hotel 2 days after lockdown had been lifted and the city has begun to be alive again. ||Stay well, healthy, sane, mindful of today’s sanitary...
Read moreTraffic noise all night long and all day. The double glazing was not sufficiently thick to keep it out so that meant three nights with little sleep.||||The breakfast was so unappetising as not to bother.||||Location-wise it was accessible to the coast and Corniche but meant dodging traffic to try to hail a cab - so mostly I walked for miles along the seafront trying to hear myself think amidst the cacophony of car horns.||||This hotel has probably seen better days. The staff were friendly and helpful enough but it was the mere minimum with no in-room commodities, no hair dryer, no pictures on the wall, almost nothing but the glorious sea beyond and the traffic surging around the dwindling spectacle of the Pigeon Rocks now hemmed in by cafe restaurants.||||Not even coffee in the room - just a tea bag and some sugar and milk powder. I asked for coffee but had to go downstairs from the high floors just to drink a cup. The morning coffee was so weak and cold it was...
