We visited this place for the first time with our family. We booked through the booking.com platform and did not find any really bad reviews. Which seems strange now. The location and surroundings are definitely worth paying attention to, but the weekend rest was marred by the rude behavior and communication of the staff. First of all, I will start by saying that neither the mentioned booking.com page nor their official page mentions the camping rules. We learned them, or rather we learned one of the camping rules when we arrived, paid and signed the form - "Quiet time from 22 - 06 hours." Everything is fine, it is a normal practice to ensure a peaceful rest for other users of the service, but we did not know that loud talking during the day (the sensitivity of each ear is different here) is also not allowed, or playing music from the phone (children were dancing) is also strictly prohibited. We were shocked, because how can 8- and 5-year-old children constantly go and say "Daughters, talk more quietly, because aunt will come and be angry". We felt a constant fear of saying something louder, because it's really unpleasant when people come and make comments to you more than once or twice. We were not informed about all the rules at all, only later they said that they were posted on the cabin near the cafe. The strangest thing is that, while running on the footpaths around the campsite, I definitely heard more than one company that both played music softly and spoke louder. Of course, they were not LT citizens, maybe the rules are different for them? The expected relaxing weekend was more exhausting than anywhere else. We are really not picky, we travel and have been to many places of this format, but this was the first time we had such an unpleasant experience. The most surprising thing was the rude, arrogant and impolite communication of the administrator. Do these people have to work with clients? Other staff were very polite and said hello. We ordered really good cabins, we paid a lot of money for two nights, but the price-comfort ratio was inadequate. The saddest thing is that we did not find information about such rules anywhere in advance, we would have definitely chosen another place. I think this place is suitable for those who like complete silence, singles, but definitely not...
Read moreWe really loved to stay in this camp site with our 2 tents (and 2 kids and 2 dogs).
It's right next the several little lakes where you can walk to take a swim. Also wale park and bouncy thing on the water are right there behind the gate. Dogs are welcome everywhere, also at the lakesides and in the water plus of course in the campground area.
The town is right next to the campground and you can even walk to the senter, although it was a bit far for the kids. But there's a lovely park and riverside walking path close.
The ground was wonderful fir the tents, easy to push the pegs into the ground and wasn't too wet even though it had been raining a lot previously. There's lots of shade to pick a place you prefer. Electricity available although it's a more expensive spot.
The facilities look and feel very new, no complaints. Toilets-showers-kitchen area are all very clean and smell good. There could be more cups in the kitchen, other than that everything seemed to be there, even dish washing supplies. Ah, an interesting solution that you have to pay to use the cooktop. Not expensive, like 0.5 € for half an hour. We really liked the common area in the kitchen that can be used in rainy days for eating and hanging out.
It would be good to add a kids playground, basketball ring and other such things.
The only annoying thing for us here was when we started to pack our tents up. There were about 15-20 grey slugs under and on our tent. It was an invasive species that is getting more common everywhere. They are really slimy and annoying. We were close to the forest area so possibly they came from there.
But all in all this is one of the best campsites we have been to! We planned to stay for 1 night but stayed for...
Read moreThis is what camping should be. Nice, big, designated camping spots that are covered in grass and serviced with electricity (water would be nice). There are large tents on platforms and very cute cabins for rent. Sadly, people still walk through your site like it was theirs but that seems to be normal in Europe. A great kitchen, super clean with a dining area inside and out, 3 sinks, a cooktop, fridge, stand up freezer, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, dishwashing soap all included. There is a small charge for the electricity to use the cook top. There is a small restaurant and bar that is open till 9 just off reception. They offer breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday pancakes were tasty but the apple sauce topping was the best. My wife liked the strawberry and sour cream. This is a family run business and you can tell they care. Everything is clean and organized, signs are in Lithuanian and English, reception is manned by the two daughters who spoke excellent English and were very friendly and helpful. Parents Linas and Jurtka are always available. The fenced campground backs onto a forest area. Someone complained that he had to walk outside the fence to get to the forest. Fenced campgrounds close to towns are important as it keeps unwanted people and animals out. Next door there is a pond (separate business) with bouncy castles, etc and you can water ski using...
