Hotel Juta, Keningau — Hotel in Borneo

As one of the best hotels in Keningau, Hotel Juta does as well as it is to be expected for the price. Amenities are there, and the hotel rooms are comfortable and roomy. However, having stayed on the 4th floor (called 3A), there was no discernible Wifi and I had to use my own phone data for the whole stay.

The hotel's redeeming feature is purely its location. Conveniently situated opposite a Milimewa supermarket and 2 mins walk away from Keningau mall, amenities are easily accessed. There are coffee shops surrounding it, a bakery right outside, 24 hour mamak shops nearby, a big Maybank branch across from it, and a KFC behind. The staff too are polite and try their best to help despite the town's limitations. The most irritating aspect (perhaps only for me) are the taxi drivers who loiter about the hotel entrance, touting for passengers.

This hotel is one I would choose to stay in on my next trip to Keningau, for it is indeed the most convenient and comfortable...

I usually stay in Sento hotel but since it was fully booked, Juta it is.

Pros: Staffs were very friendly. Hotel is at a strategic location with food shops and a mall nearby. Water pressure was good with a hot shower. Tv and aircon was working.

Cons: Lights were not working in the 1st room so we moved to another room. Here, the shower area leaked water all over the bathroom floor making the whole place wet. We were too tired to move to another room so just powered through. Breakfast was quite expensive for the menu offered. Housekeeping kept forgetting to remove hair from the shower drain. There was hair when we 1st moved into the room! The rooms cost almost as expensive as Sento hotel but is nowhere near that quality.

An alternative accommodation with a cheaper rate I would highly recommend is...

It's located in the town centre. Surprisingly their weekend price is cheaper than weekdays. However, it doesn't include breakfast. The phone in one of our rooms was faulty. The door of another room was missing its latch. The staff was quick to help arrange a room change for the door problem. There were ants in the bathroom. The hot/cold shower label was reversed. Water at the shower area drains slowly and leaked at the bottom corner. Water of the toilet bowl also dripped non-stop into the bowl. Towel, shower gel, shampoo, shower cap, coffee, tea, electric kettle, tv and drinking water were provided. Hair dryer and iron can be requested. They are no private parking allocated for the hotel, but public parking spaces are available...
