Permata Cafe — Restaurant in Sabah

Service-wise, the staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints there. But when it came to the overall dining experience, a few things could’ve been better.

For example, guests had to serve the soup themselves, which felt a little off for a café setting where you'd expect staff to handle that. The environment was quite basic.

That said, the food itself really delivered. One standout was the Nam Yee Lamb, which was incredibly flavourful and tender. Prawn Fritter too, was crispy on the outside and packed with juicy, well-seasoned prawns inside. Every bite had that perfect golden crunch, followed by a burst of savoury seafood flavour. So addictive!

All in all, the food is worth trying, but a few service touches and clearer setup could make the overall experience a lot...

This place is actually cozy and the food is great. However, I gave only three stars because my large group waited about 30-40 mins for their drinks and an hour 10 minutes for the food. My first mug of beer came over 30 mins after ordering and my food was last to arrive...after 1hr 30 mins. BAD service.

BUT the food was delicious...highly recommended. I will maybe give a higher rating when I visit next time I am...

I hope they are consistent with this kind of food quality.

Gravy is nice, not too oily or salty. Fried fish is fresh. Generous portion. 5/5
