Marco Polo Guesthouse. — Hotel in Borneo

One of the best places we’ve stayed during our Southeast Asia backpacking travels. My wife and I originally planned to stay three nights but ended up staying for almost a month! Samuel and Jane were wonderful hosts and made us feel like we were staying with family. They are genuinely kind people who are more than willing to share about their culture and also learn about yours. We had great conversations and they were kind enough to take us to their favorite night market for dinner during our stay. ||||Our room was comfortable, aircon worked great, clean bathrooms/showers and generous breakfast every morning (not just toast like most hostels/guesthouses). We had no issues getting a good night’s sleep as the neighborhood is generally quiet at night.||||The guesthouse is located within walking distance to great restaurants where you can enjoy some amazing local dishes such as Laksa. We also found it easy to use Grab to get to the national parks, malls and other locations outside the neighborhood.|| ||Highly recommend staying at Marco Polo’s. We book the room by mail.||At first, we were a bit puzzled when the taxi left us in front of this place. But what a backpacker!!!||Sam is amazing. He loves talking to his guests, is very helpful, will do everything he can to help and advise you. My husband and myself, we loved talking to him. He is such a funny and interesting guy. His wife is also lovely.||The bedrooms we stayed in did not have windows, which avoided us to be waken by the street. They were clean, like the share bathroom. ||Our 2 kids had their own bedroom. They both enjoyed the patio/ terrace. This is the best place to meet with all other travellers, or to stay quiet outside.||The breakfast is very generous.||||The place is at walking distance from everywhere in Kuching.||Yes, there are lots of cats, but the place was clean.||||We do recommend this...
