Super friendly place with lots of different foods and not too busy at midday on Sunday. There are two sides, inner and outer shops and seating on both sides.

Here is a summary of each of the 26 food stalls for you.

Since I find these reviews confusing due to it being a food court with many people selling same dishes I will share everything I know though I couldnt eat much as a solo person.

Stall 1: the recommended coconut sugarcane juice mix everyone recommends. Really nice, refreshing and not too sweet with young coconut slices in it and ice (a little more ice would be great though) for 2 RM for small which was a decent size.

Stall 2: seng Lee, drinks and shaved ice. I tried the shaved ice, service very unfriendly and ignored me for an awkward amount of time but dessert was delicious and perfect amount of sweetness.

Stall 3: called nonya delight, appears to sell pork roll, kangkung, fried noodles and soups but was closed.

Stall 4: belachan bee hoon. Cuttle fish and kangkong. The name was very useful, that's what it sells including sotong version, between 5-7rm

Stall 5: called Xian zhi Wei - sells all the types of noodles: kolo mee, fried mee, tomato mee, and many more, and chicken rice. I tried tomato mee for 4.50rm which was a thick, sweet tomato sauce soup base with deep fried crinkly mee noodles topped with some sliced cha siew pork, chicken bits and processed ham thing. It was nice but didn't like the meat on top, though there was a generous amount, because it was dry.

Stall 6: lim kee, sold Chua Kueh in varying sizes from 4-8rm

Stall 7: called rihga - famous for its Gong pia (mini baked bagel like bread with sesame seeds on top and filling), there were several options but the traditional pork looked best and seemed most popular. This was filled with a sweet pork gravy and was hot and fresh - very good! 1.10rm for 1. They also sell rojak in varying sizes, mostly good sharing size.

Stall 8: Fong ah poh rojak - closed.

Stall 9: Heng Lee - appears to be shaved ice desserts sold by an elderly lady but was not popular while I was there. Also sells drinks and she offered me coconut juice, not sure if fresh.

Stall 10: name in Chinese says "something 1" sorry my Chinese is terrible :( sells vegetable soup rice, tomato mee or Kueh tiaw, kolo mee or kt, fried Kueh tiaw and fried rice. Didn't try but prices are mostly 5 RM aside from tomato mee for 3.50 RM - I tried to ask a stallholder which tomato mee they preferred but they probably widely wouldn't tell me just said 10 and 5 sold the same.

Stall 11: no English name, Gong pia #2 sold the bigger fluffier donut like version with no filling but sweet and savoury kind of glaze. Really yummy! 1.20 RM for 1. They also appear to sell curry puffs and deep fried bao but didn't seem to have these.

Stall 12: no English name but seems to sell sio bi (like shao mai but without yellow wrapper it seems), was closed.

Stall 13: law san: seems very popular for rice with choose your own topping from behind the glass.

Stall 14: no name in any language - they're bold! Glass front was stacked with deep fried goodies and seemed quite popular.

Stall 15: midah special: sold nasi campur (mixed rice) and also advertised fried oyster pancake which look big and crispy, as nasi goreng ayam (fried chicken with rice) .

Stall 16: golden memories - closed and no clue of food.

Stall 17: golden triangle drink corner- traditional drinks and desserts.

Stall 18: no English name no sign of what is sold.

Stall 19: city cat chicken rice - sells just chicken rice for 3.50 or 4 RM

Stall 20: wok fried noodle dishes either 3.80 or 6 RM

Stall 21: jakson, closed.

Stall 22: ak kok, closed. Seems to sell chicken wings.

Stall 23: Sri mathi Indian, dishes between 4-8 and naan between 1-3rm

Stall 24: Ching chang drink stall, no prices, have coconuts and sugar cane.

Stall 25: ah Lau, closed no sign of what they sell.

Stall 26: jia jia, sell peanut ribs soup, curry chicken, kacama chicken, bitter gourd soup and pork leg. 5-6 RM also claypot and loklok (fried and...

This place is always the best place to find all kind of desserts and fresh juice (especially their sugarcane mixed with coconut water and copra/ [white] flesh); from shaved ice to rojak to spicy glass noodles (belachan mee hon) and many more. It is one of the oldest establishments in Kuching and well-known for its food stalls. This complex houses a multiple food stalls on the top floor while ground is now unused (my understanding is that it was a wet market before they relocate to other sites). There are plenty of stalls and each stall sells different food items. You can ask them to tailor the food and drinks to your liking. Pricing is reasonable, and it won't break your bank account 🤭. Onsite parking is kind of hit and miss. Sometimes it is easy to find while peak time (from noon to 4pm) will be busy. Most people come for the shaved ice or cold juice to cool themselves with cold desserts.

Cash only payment.

Kids friendly.

Food and Drinks: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. It was good. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Don't expect too much. This is an open air area and therefore, expect occasional unwanted odours from outside. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonable pricing.

Would I go back?...

I believe the last of the 5-star award has to come via "external intervention" to full-score this very old establishment. In need of a pragmatic refresh. Perhaps. Or it has been refreshed?!?!

Its location is not visible from the main roads, but it shouldn't be hard to find; if you're meandering about town and needing a sustainence pit-stop. Surrounded by the backsides 🤭 of Jalan Padungan (old town), a school's sports field, and council social housing; it was once a bustling local produce market on the lower level (emptied now) and hawkers centre above. It is a sheltered open layout place. This is no frills eating here. At its peak operating hrs, it's a good place for people watching.

Bonus are the freshly extracts - striaght from the coconut & sugarcane - drinks. To savour with the local "fry-ups" (lard & flambeed), or oiled noods, kuehs, rolls, rojak, ice kacang, pisang goreng (intensely 😬 fried crispy batter) ... a substaintial variety to sample. Low-cost and should be adequate...

A local favourite hang out place for local delights, I’ve been here twice in less than a week I was in Kuching for work. I’ve had so much food I never knew about! It’s truly a gastronomical adventure in Sarawak. My love for cuttlefish with kangkung and mee hoon came to live here with > ā€œBelacan Meeā€. Chilli on the side, it’s not spicy at all. On the contrary, it’s savoury and sweet. Served with century egg, it’s suck a delight! Then there’s the sugar can juice with fresh coconut water.Perfect match! So good I finished it all within minutes. Of course, there’s also ice kacang, and many other yummy stuff like the doughnut that’s like a puff with sticky minced pork in it. Chewy and crunchy; great combo. I do like this place. Highly recommended to all travelers, local or not, to have a few meals here and try out what the Sarawakians like, especially those residing in Kuching.

Clean hawker centre where you can try a wide variety of local dishes at incredibly low prices. We went on a weekday lunchtime and it wasnt crowded at all, plenty of seats available. Some stalls were also closed. We had the following: Stall 1: sugarcane drink with coconut flesh. An interesting combination. Stall 7: pork + cheese kompia and siobee/siewmai. My first time trying kompia and personally I didn't find it noteworthy. Stall 14: goreng pisang with sesame seeds - This was amazing!! Best goreng pisang i've had in my life. Stall 25: crispy noodles in a light tomato gravy. There are a few stalls that sell this dish. I thought the gravy could be thicker but overall it was a satisfying meal!
