Outstanding Stay at Pan Borneo Hotel Kota Kinabalu
I've had the pleasure of staying at Pan Borneo Hotel Kota Kinabalu twice now, and each time has been nothing short of fantastic. The location is incredibly convenient, with the parking area situated very close to the hotel, making it easy to access.
The lobby is very comfortable, beautifully decorated with a Chinese aesthetic that adds a unique charm to the hotel. The staff, both the boys and girls, are incredibly friendly, always greeting guests with bright smiles that made me and my children feel very welcome.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped, with a large bed that comfortably accommodated three adults and two children. The cleanliness of the hotel is commendable, and the wide, open spaces create a welcoming atmosphere. The view from the window is offering a clear and unobstructed sight of the surrounding area.
One of the biggest advantages of staying here is the hotel's location. The shopping mall is just downstairs, and the hotel is surrounded by various local shops. Whether you need food, essentials, or just want to explore.
Additionally, I want to commend the parking attendant for their exceptional service. We left the hotel for the airport before 4 AM, and when we reached the parking lot exit, the barrier was quickly lifted. The attendant was truly excellent and made our early departure smooth and hassle-free.
The hotel has left a lasting impression on us, and I wouldn't hesitate to choose it again for our next visit. It's also conveniently close to Kota Kinabalu International Airport, making travel even more hassle-free.
Outstanding Breakfast Experience
One more thing I must mention about Pan Borneo Hotel Kota Kinabalu is their breakfast—it's simply amazing! The variety is incredible, with so many delicious options to choose from. From local delicacies to pastries, hot dishes, bread, and eggs, the selection is vast and satisfies every taste. The staff is also friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The breakfast definitely left a lasting impression on us, and we were very...
Read moreThe hotel is clean, and many Chinese tourists stay at this hotel. The buffet is good, and the restaurant overlooks a swimming pool. There is also a gym at the hotel, but I think it needs serious upgrading. But I have only been to this hotel once last year. Maybe it has been upgraded.
Public transportation in Sabah is so-so; I would not recommend the mini bus to tourists. However, one can take a taxi or Uber to the hotel. But if one drives a car, ample parking spaces is available at the shopping mall which is adjacent to the hotel. Park at Level 3.
Fook Yuen Cafe has opened another branch near this hotel. Whether Fook Yuen is halal; I am not sure. I have been trying to locate the 'Halal' logo at this premise but still I failed. Although the shop spelled its name in Jawi, my eyes still fail to see the 'Halal' logo. As such, I don't eat there. The cafe looks nice tho. But fret not, there are many halal restaurants nearby such as Sinar Mustika, and a few mamak restaurants. There are also two 24/7 sundry shops nearby.
Walk a bit further, one can experience the 'tamu' which is the weekly wet and dry market at Putatan, which is usually held on Sunday, though unofficially it starts on Saturday. You can buy local delicacies such as local pastries and savouries (tapai is my favourite which is fermented sweet rice, it is halal by the way), penjaram, cendol, and so many other food. But be sure to ask the locals first on where the tamu is located for the week, because the local authorities may relocate it.
While you are in Putatan, do not forget to visit the Tun Mustapha Memorial Centre, which is a museum commemorating Tun Mustapha, one of the many local heroes of Sabah. Take Uber or taxi here, because I do not see any bus stops nearby the building.
Soluxe Hotel is also within walking distance to two big supermarkets; Servay and Giant. Here you can find almost everything you need, and these place are also the place where local shops for groceries. We also have Maybank, RHB, and Bank Rakyat...
Read moreThey said they were checking in, but when it was my turn, they suddenly told me to wait, saying they would check in a local person who wasn't even in line first? Then, after checking in, the window frame in the room I went into was like the picture, so I called the reception right away to tell them what the problem was, but when they asked which side the window was, and I said it was outside, they said they would send an engineer and hung up the phone. What kind of 4-star hotel is this? The staff's service was the worst, to the point of being rude, and The engineers who came up were so familiar with the problem that they knew how many times it had been repeated that they brought a spare handle and replaced it. However, even after replacing it, the door wouldn't close properly^^ Thanks to that, I slept after applying mosquito repellent all over my body (no, I tried to sleep). The noise was really unbelievable. I think Koreans mainly use this as a package tour accommodation, but the accommodation can really ruin your entire travel schedule to the point where you decide whether or not to choose a tour. I requested breakfast, but I didn't eat it after reading the reviews. I'll say one last thing. If you don't like your job, find another job. Who will compensate for my trip that I paid for and ruined? Isn't your job to actively listen to and correct customer complaints? If you don't like that, find another job. Don't bother people around the world^^ It was really the worst accommodation,
and I will write a review based on facts so that no other victims, including the site I booked on and Google, will appear. I hope that the staff of Fan Borneo will actively correct the reviews after...
