... In Pontian, you'd be hard pressed to find a hotel with a better view. But not from the rooms, rather from the breakfast area in the upper floor. Yes, they have 2 room at this floor too. That's what you get when you are situated at the beach front.||||Rooms are a bit on a small size. The furniture and fittings are not new, but they are not crumbling either. I have stayed here for many nights while doing a project nearby and are comfortable with the amenities.||||The breakfast is minimal. You got local fare, eggs, fries, sausages, sliced bread, some local kuih and fruit. All in small quantity but I have never come across an empty serving yet. It is only for breakfast and serve no food at other times.||||There are many eateries just a few steps away. If you walk a bit along the shore, which is nice by the way, you will find many Chinese seafood place at the other side of the beach. Shops and banks are also nearby.||||No matter what room you stay, dings from nearby eateries go until about midnight. They must have thought full volume blasting of songs or TVs are entertainment, not to mentioned the usual noise from patrons. After midnight it gets quiet enough. Light and early sleeper should avoid this place.||||There are only about 20+ rooms, so reservation is advisable especially on peak season, holidays or weekends. The rates are high for a hotel in a small town but I'd still say it is a value...
Read moreThis hotel earns 5-stars in my book for a few reasons.
Location - you are merely a 30 second walk from the sea. There are tons of restaurants nearby and it’s full of people at night so you feel safe walking around. The fish market is just down the road, too!
Vibe - This is not a run-of-the-mill modern hotel. The room has a nice desk, excellent shower head, and a bit of character! It’s more homey than the modern minimalist hotels you see around. It was also very clean.
In addition, the 3rd floor cafe where breakfast is served is an awesome place to munch, drink coffee, and relax with a view.
Service - both the owner and his staff were extremely warm and accommodating. From the moment we walked in, we felt wanted and welcome.
During breakfast, Cheah (the owner), went around to all the guests and made friendly small talk with them without being intrusive. He genuinely wanted to both make his guests feel at home and learn more about what they liked and didn’t like about his hotel. He also gave me a lesson on how to properly cut a pineapple, which was really interesting! (Pontian/Pekan Nanas is famous for pineapples and seafood!)
Genuinely my only complaint about our stay was the music outside in the park (till after 11PM), but if you’re not a light sleeper it shouldn’t be a problem. But it’s not the hotel’s fault!
If you are in this area, look no further. Cheah will take great care of...
Read moreWas on a trip to Pontian and searching for a suitable hotel. Saw the reviews for this hotel in trip advisor, and I was definitely very impressed by it. So, I decided to try it for myself. ||Stayed for a night in Pontian Garden Hotel with my husband & daughter. Friendly front desk staff, clean lobby. Hotel is 3 storey high, no elevator. Got to climb the stairs, will be a problem for those who have leg problems. They have a good variety of rooms, (inclusive of family room & pent house!). I stayed in the Deluxe room. Nice room, spacious, comfortable & clean. Comes with 2 free breakfast. Breakfast is a simple homemade food, (nasi goreng, finger foods, fruits, kuihs, cold & hot drinks) which is good enough for us! View on the L3 cafe was indeed beautiful & calming. Another good point is, thay have a security guard to oversee the car at night! ||To sum up my stay, it's definitely worth it! Will come back again...
