Casa Lagenda is a 2-3 star budget hotel, and any expectations one may have as to the quality of its rooms must be tempered by this fact. However, what I got for only RM68 per night (double room), far exceeded my own expectations of what a Malaysian budget hotel should offer. Among the pleasant surprises, typically associated with a 4-5 star property:||- Free wifi internet in rooms||- TV with Astro satellite channels, including HBO, Cinemax, Astro Ria, Astro Supersports||- A fridge stocked with reasonably priced soft drinks (RM2 per can)||- Free coffee & tea making facilities||- House-brand shower gel and shampoo||- Professional check-in and check-out: pre-signed credit card slip torn in front of you upon checkout, detailed invoice & receipt folded neatly in an envelope.||||RM68 is half of what you'd pay at some of the famous budget-hotel chains, which lack many of the above amenities. Casa Lagenda offers no breakfast, but there are a variety of restaurants and coffeeshops within close walking distance. There is also a mall nearby with a Starbucks, KFC, Pizza Hut and cineplex, as well as a Tesco.||||I stayed for 1 night on business. The hotel well-suited my needs, as my event was being held in Lagenda Heights, where the hotel is situated. Add to that the areas's close proximity to the Sungei Petani Utara toll exit, and you have the perfect location. There is plenty of parking on the streets - in the daytime, parking is chargeable at RM0.60 per hour from 0830-1730. Reception sells the Sg Petani Municipality parking coupons for this purpose.||||On the downside, the room is very small, with an even smaller bathroom (see my photos). Also, the furniture and fittings seem a bit worn, but still usable. This may not be the place for a family holiday, but as a comfortable pad for a good night's rest, it...
Read moreIt's near the Village Mall, a quite new shopping mall and there's shop lots nearby with some stalls selling foods for late night snacking. The check in was smooth, lobby is small though but is tidy and receptionist is friendly but she didn't give the right information about our room as we thought we'll get room with window in front but once we checked it's on the side not in front. And then she said no more room facing the front after we ask for a change. That's a bummer when information is not given to us properly! It's a bad first impression to any hotel when this happen. Room is average, no flat tv but that's okay we can forgive that but there's no kettle or teabags provided and the jug along with the cups is made of plastic! Bathroom is small and need repainting and we can't lock the door. Don't have to ask the view as it was a view of other building nearby, just a bit of view of the front road. Disappointing. :P There's no lift or breakfast included. But other than all that thankfully we had a good sleep and wifi connection is strong as we try using it in the room and it worked! Maybe we'll stay here again if they improve the miscommunication and the conditions of the room and bathroom alongside with...
Read moreStayed there with my family of two in a Family room, location is very strategic as it's nearby to important landmarks, government offices and next to main road that is accessible from the PLUS highway. Once exit from Sungai Petani Utara and turn left equipped with my handy Google maps navigator, this affordable budget hotel is very easy to find.||||Room is adequate for a small family of 3 (or even 4) as it comes with two double beds (queen size) , free wi-fi (Unifi fiber optic ) and it is VERY fast ! My son can even download a full movie using his smartphone within 25 minutes ! ||||However, there is only one setback as all rooms are without any Cable TV channels (ASTRO) and the TV are quite old (NOT flat screen plasma TV) and I hope the Management can consider to install it in the future, as most budget hotels in Malaysia will invest in providing it for boosting their selling point.||||Many Parking bays available but do buy the parking coupon if you wish to park it during daytime and it can be purchase from the Reception counter.||||Overall, Casa Lagenda is a good place for a short pit-stop and with their friendly team , I consider it as a GOOD value for money accommodation...
