Whenever you're in the room, ALWAYS BE SURE TO KEEP IT LOCKED. And before that, please don't do anything and be in any state which you do not want yourselves to be in, should a stranger suddenly appears in the same proximity as you. Switching the 'Do Not Disturb' sign is nothing.
Security personnel (i'm assuming he's in charge of security from his behavious) has been watching me when i came in. For some reason, he found me a interesting subject for observation , in the midst of hundreds, if not thousands of people all over the hotel on that day (there were several events going in their premises). At one point he stood there and looked straight at me (from a distance) like i was going to do something which his imagination told him.
Room was unavailable when i arrived so i hanged around the hotel for a while before it was finally ready. Within, can't remember, 20 min? half hour? i entered my room and like a bolt from the blue. someone just scanned the key card (the obvious beep sound) to my door and barged in just like that. And there he was, the same guy that was watching me downstairs. No knocking whatsoever and i didn't lock my door. Only turned on Do Not Disturb sign. Above all , there was no reason for him to be entering my room. And he still had the gall to unapologetically go "Sir, room okay?"
Personally this is a form of harassment and it made no sense to me why the need to deliberately check on guests' room for no good reason. What purpose does 'DND' sign serve?
The problem with big hotels like this is that the people still do their job but they don't really care if they pissed someone off here and there coz they know they have the backing of other businesses (events, conventions, etc.) to fall back on. It is because of such apathy that you see gripes you read in Google reviews that continue to persist. A so-called resort/hotel of such scale have a wide assortment of networks they could rely on to cover themselves with without having to worry too much abt slip-ups they commit, unintentionally or otherwise, and/or the liberties they take, consciously or otherwise, with stay-in guests.
I'd read abt someone saw a kid bleeding in the pool and was told by kids' parents that he cut his foot in the pool over some broken tiles (and while i was at the pool, i saw some tiles that were broken and came off). And some rich guest handed over his/her jacket (or something) that was worth thousands of bucks to the hotel's laundry (not a wise move in my mind); clothes was damaged after laundry and the guest still did not get the compensation he/she expected (according to him/her, hotel just gave him/her the runaround).
It can be a great place (by its sheer luxurious layout, size, design) to have fun with friends and family (and yes many had a great time during their stay here and i had a pretty good time too; the pool was fun and bed was comfy); anything could go wrong and chances are they probably wouldn't care less despite your spending a good amount of money here.
Somehow, the good services that were talked about is something the hotel staff decide when, where and if they would apply what they learned at hospitality school to their jobs. In other words, it's optional. As opposed to having a hospitality spirit embedded firmly into hotel culture (things like receptionist picking up non-ringing phone and putting it to the ear when noticing a guest approaches front desk).
P.s. Personally, i feel water slides can be fun but the inherent risks are no stranger; Built in the same pool area as opposed to a 'no swim'/'no man's land' zone of some sort. God forbid that someone slid down and exited the base of the slide at the same time where someone in the pool was standing. And they merely put a bunch of instructions (worded in pubescent fashion) on the slides to free themselves of any liability.
Ironically, speaking of security (they're probably connected directly to the police), there's more to fear from internal transgression than external criminals. Which is a joke and...
Read moreI recently stayed at M Resort for a special occasion and I must say that my experience was quite disappointing. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that the staff was not properly trained and many issues marred my stay. Don't fall for their Instagram marketing, unless you're an influencer, they have no intentions of treating you with respect. DINING: One of the first problems I encountered was with the Hive Bar. I asked one of the staff for a menu, and she seemed completely clueless, giving me only one menu for a table of four. When I asked for another menu, she seemed even more confused. This lack of attentiveness and training was quite frustrating. Another issue arose at the Fairway Cafe, where the head of the staff turned us away, claiming that we were too late to enjoy any of the guest privileges, although we had just checked in at 3 PM. This was particularly ironic as we noticed the table next to us being served coffee and tea alongside their afternoon Tai Tai set. The staff did not bother at all. They told us to sit outside, without any further explanation. The inconsistency in treatment left us disgusted and wondering why we were being discriminated against. There was no discount provided, despite their "promotions" stated all over their website, if you look at the other review from guests, they all say the same. Not sure if the hotel plans to keep their guests loyal or chase them away. The breakfast served at the hotel was far from satisfactory. For a hotel that claims to be a "luxurious 4-star establishment", the food options were limited and the quality was subpar. The lack of variety and the tasteless offerings were a major disappointment. The only positive aspect was the physical structure of the hotel, which was relatively new. However, the poor service and lack of attention to detail did not match the hotel's appearance. SERVICE: Furthermore, the lack of assistance from the porters after 8 PM was a letdown. I had to manage carrying my items while pushing the heavy door simultaneously, which was quite difficult. Even though the receptionists were not attending to any other guests at the time, they made no effort to lend a hand or provide any assistance. It was the night of my birthday, I think you can only imagine how terrible it was to have it end this way. It was disheartening to see the lack of consideration and helpfulness. To add to my disappointment, the hotel staff COMPLETELY overlooked a remark that had specifically been made to their Public Relations Manager and the Front Desk, 13 days prior to my stay. Despite leaving a note under the "Occasions" section of their booking form (this was done in person), clearly indicating my birthday celebration, it was evident that they had not even bothered to check it. HOUSEKEEPING: On several occasions, housekeeping forgot to replace essential items such as tissues and bath gels. This necessitated calling them after a tiring night out to remind them of their duties. It is disappointing when such basic tasks are overlooked and require intervention from their guests. Overall, my experience at M Resort left much to be desired. As a guest, I did not feel valued or appreciated. The hotel failed to meet even the simplest needs and did not live up to its self-proclaimed status as a “luxurious escape”. I regret choosing M Resort for my birthday celebration, especially considering my high hopes and expectations. I have stayed in numerous hotels around the world, and unfortunately, M Resort fell short in many areas. The service provided was far from satisfactory and did not align with the hotel's...
Read moreTo cut the chase, 5 star family resort with zero star service. Absolutely terrible experience but redeemed by excellent Gai Restaurant. RM688 per night for Stay and Dine package.
To start of on wrong foot, check-in was a disaster at 3.20pm, with unmanaged lines. Children screaming their lungs out unattended by their parents, it was like a circus. I saw a previous comment that a staff commented that “every weekend we fully booked, sir”, but why is there only 4 lines working - 2 of which is on the phone? Disastrous.
2nd illogical thing is pool hours are from 7am till 7pm only. Experience wise, it is swarming with families and screaming kids. I get it- it’s normal to let kids have their fun, but I am of the view that it should be supervised. Adult section is not respected nor partitioned. No life guard(s) is seen, and there is a severe hazard in that there is an “adult” water slide (clearly labelled yet still many children using it due to lack of enforcement/life-guard). The adult water slide clears into a deep part of the pool- any life lost is on the hotel if my warning is not heeded.
Room was decent but no upgrade despite request. I had paid for an upgrade to golf course view and instead saw more of the highway than the golf course. Delivery of our cake was also delayed, but at least the guest manager was very polite. Kudos to the team.
We are particularly miffed again in the evening when we participated in the Surf and Turf buffet dinner. We were led to a far too large table for our party (4 sets of cutlery were prepared), before we could turn our backs and inform the usher- she literally ran away. We decided to take a far more reasonable sized table next door - and when I came back with my food. I was informed by my wife that we are being “chased” away by a very rude manager. I am particularly miffed by the manner it is done and no help was rendered to take our food and drinks. Honestly for the RM188 price per person for the buffet dinner, it was not worth for both the food and the service.
Nevertheless, the highlight of the evening was Gai by DC, it was night and day in terms of service, presentation and food (I will post a separate review).
I would have thought my nightmare was over if not for checkout. Only two counters was open, but thankfully it was quick and painless. Kudos to the male manager who quickly opened a new counter for checkout. However, the buggy service to the detached parking lot was a disaster. When we arrived for check in on Day 1, there had been two buggies waiting to ferry passengers; at checkout, we were told to follow a man to the buggy, but he allowed a family waiting to take photos and then drove them off for over 10 minutes. A second buggy was parked in a distance unattended, and when we inquired, the concierge manager rudely told us to wait. I told him there is a second buggy parked, but was told “it’s not my job”. 😅 I shook my head in amazement.
