I heard about this bakery during the pandemic and decided to order a whole cake when I went down to KL last year. I ordered their best seller Hazelnut Brown Butter and let's just say I found the whole cake bland. Which is odd since there was a lot going on but it really was just alright. However I thought, maybe I ordered wrong and that I should try the other flavors. Fast forward to when I returned to KL and visited their new place Plump. It was a public holiday and there was a line. The anticipation grew! I always get excited for cake. I ordered the Chocolate Banana and that Kaya Cake. My sis and I sat down. Took a bite. And couldn't believe that we paid 26 for a slice of cake with the thinnest layer ganache, bland chocolate cake with chunky bananas ( bananas are fine ) and nuts in caramel, which somehow tasted so light. I can't even remember the caramel flavour. Then we had the kaya Cake paid 20 for that or was it 22 , and let's just say that a forgettable cake. Ordered a burnt butter cake with pears and blueberries. Beautiful flavours mixed with a layer of sweet chocolate! The cake was moist and smoky. So nicely decorated as well (to the point of obsession almost 😂). Tao himself answered the door and gave us detailed instructions on how the cake had to be kept at room temperature or if refrigerated, must be thawed for a minimum of 3 hours before eating. Kinda pricey at 220 per cake but worth it IMHO. order 3 days in advance to avoid...

Heavenly cakes😋. Ordered a 7" pistachio cake with fresh figs for RM200+. A bit pricey. Quality is high, topped with a lot of fresh figs. The cake itself is dense, nutty (pistachio, I suppose) has a sourish taste of lemon zest. Creative! Somehow, not to my taste though.
