My family and I went to Veggielicious Thai Cuisine restaurant on 3rd May 2022, which fell on a Tuesday. We arrived slightly after its opening hours i.e. 5.30pm, and boy, am I glad we arrived early, because the crowd just kept on coming. That came as a surprise for me, as I expected lesser crowd on a working weekday. I can't imagine what the crowd would be like during the weekends!
In any case, we were promptly seated after we entered, and the ordering process was relatively seamless. For Starter, we ordered the Combo Platter (RM 37), which came with lobak, fried spring rolls, crispy tofu, fried mushrooms and fried chicken strips. Aside from the fried mushrooms, which I thought was delicious, the other ones didn't stand out to me unfortunately.
Next we had the Papaya Salad (RM 16), which was pretty standard, as in, it tasted quite similar to any other Thai restaurant that serve this dish. We also had the chef recommended Crispy Kangkung (RM 27); while I enjoyed the crispy texture of the fried kangkung, I can't say I like the oily feel as I munch into it. But to each their own.
You cannot go to a Thai restaurant without ordering a curry dish, so we ordered a large portion of the Green Curry Lion Head Mushroom (RM 39). Again, this dish misses the mark for me; I feel that the curry did not quite achieve that balance of salty, sweet, creamy and hot. I definitely had better green curry out there; heck, even BMS Organic's vegetarian green curry packet tasted better.
Finally we had the Satay Sticks (RM 21), which came with 6 plump "chicken" sticks. I definitely enjoyed the flavor, but I'm not too sure about the texture of the mock chicken🤔. Based on my past experiences, mock meat never tastes anywhere near as good as the real deal. So, if you go to a vegetarian restaurant, I would suggest that you order purely vegetable dishes as opposed to ordering mock meat (chicken, beef, lamb, fish etc).
If you like vegetarian food (which I do by the way), I would suggest Happy Garden Vege Cafe (Setapak), which serves stellar vegetarian food to my estimation. Would I go back to Veggielicious Thai Cuisine again? Most probably not, unless my family/friends would like to go...

Read moreTucked away in a secluded area of PJ is this hidden gem. I am not a fan of vegetarian cuisine but this restaurant is changing my view on that.
The foods that we had were very tasty. Deep fried kangkung that we ordered left a deep impression on us as it was totally different than what we expected from a kangkung. It taste like “nga gu” that we used to have during Chinese New Year. When paired with the sauce given, the dish gave a mildly spicy twist to this dish in a good way.
Their green curry with “chicken” was one of the better green curry I had so far, although I need to get used to the “chicken” texture to fully appreciate it.
However we were not impressed with their Holy Basil Chicken. We found it to be lacking the basil taste and the spiciness usually associated with this dish.
The highlight of our meal was the deep fried “fish”. The “fish meat” was wrapped in seaweed sheets and it bring this dish to another level. The seaweed made this “fish” cruchy and added another layer of flavor to it. I especially like their Thai chili sauce that compliment this dish.
Red rubbies in fresh coconut milk were our dessert of choice. As with their other dishes, it does not disappoint with their creamy coconut milk.
Would have given it 5 stars rating if it’s not for their staff friendliness. Not that they were rude, but some staff especially the cashier front isn’t...
