First the ratings, we had a deluxe water bungalow. The room is large enough, with a mini fridge, safe, separate shower, large bath and loo. The bed is a super king with a firm mattress and firmer (rock like)pillows. A weird glass panel in the middle of the bathroom floor looks down on murky brown sea water. The sheets are good and clean. Plenty of storage and they offer room service. Service by the staff varied from excellent to oh dear. Most staff are great however. Location - well that's subjective. We wanted a nice resort hotel near the beach. Essentially this seems to be a business hotel and a stopover hotel. The location for a holiday visit is not great. To get to the actual resort of Port Dickson requires the hotel limo (66MYR roughly £15.00 each way) or a taxi, but reception couldn't advise a price for that). There are some wonderful staff, some not so great. The food in the sister hotel (Grand Lexis) right next door is spectacular, fresh, delicious and presented beautifully, ice or warm water is free of charge and free flowing with meals. The views out to sea from our water bungalow are of a power station and tankers waiting off shore, although on one day we did see a cruise ship. The sea is murky brown and unappealing - although that could be due to the time of year? The breakfast buffet has something for almost every palate, lots of choice. Hot coffee and tea and varied juices too The small pool is open 0800 to 1200 and again from 2pm until 7pm. There are a few sun loungers and some seats with tables. Pool towels are provided. The gym is sad, with a treadmill, bike and cross trainer, but only the treadmill is connected to power. There are a few free weights, three benches, a leg machine and a combination lat pull down/seated rower. All have seen better days, but do work. There are no wipes or towels provided in or for the gym. The Grand Lexis next door has a bar which opens at 5pm and does serve alcohol. It is also a karaoke bar with powerful air con and powerful speakers! WiFi is provided with separate passwords for the room and the lobby. It isn't super fast, but gave us what we needed. It doesn't work by the pool, but hey, take a book! Would I stay again? No, it's just too far from anything. Would I recommend it? If you're travelling through and just need a stopover on the way, or you've got transport, it's fine.

On 9 / 11 checked in and the staff asked my car number plate to provide designated parking but when i when inside the parking lot there is no space so i cm dwn and tell the security that there is no place to park how? Then the security told me akak boleh park mana- mana. Dua pun sama owner so that point i went to park my car on hotel exit road way and there is one security standing and told me boleh reverse mari mari and in that way opposite another car is coming by so he ask me to reverse during had minor accident and scratch. The security manager (mr.navin) came and ask the other car driver to make police report and claim insurance under my car without investigating. What a stupid decision made by him. I was standing there and he didt even tell me anything and being very racist by assinting the other car owner. Then he told me that he will update and i waited for 2 days to get update, none of them update me. On 11/11 i called to check on the update the duty manager (ms.chandra) told me she was not aware of the incident and unable to do much from their end. So i requested to meet navin security manager back, while walking the entrace he was with load voice oh you want to meet me and using rude tone to show masculity on woman so we will keep shut our mouth and claim oh its your negligance and hotel cannot do anything from our end. I asked him let me explain my self but he keep on interrupting my point and keep on blaiming the fault on me. I asked him what hotel was doing meantime asked me to wait he said oh you never write any incident report so i didt do anything. So i asked him this happen inside your hotel and how come you say not your problem. Then he called on of the security staff to bring incident report paper for me to write up the incident happen on 9/11 /24. I felt this is lousy service and not worth single penny you gonna spend here. They never provide parking and if your car get ditched then ur problem not their problem even new car. Not even single empathy or sympathy to ecpected from them. Lame service, rude service by all of them and pay for something not worth.

The first impression while queuing up at the security checkpoint at the entrance to enter the premises was a turn off. That process took a little too long for me. Could have been smoother & more efficient. It didn't project a premium vibe, I must say. I was initially shocked & turned off when I found that there wasn't a proper lobby reception & there was no valet parking when I requested one. Then came the check-in in a ballroom makeshift temporary front desk/reception & it was jam packed with people. Felt more like a counter for the UNCHR refugee registration with a crowd of different nationalities in a chaotic atmosphere. Fortunately the staff at the counter was efficient & still managed a smile to calm the situation & completed the check-in process quickly inspite of the chaotic atmosphere. The ambience was unlike any other 4 or 5 star establishments I've experienced. I later found out the reason for the chaotic situation was due to some ongoing renovations. The room was more like a junior suite sized, even has a jacuzzi pool, a kitchen like sink adjacent to the dressing mirror basin, an extra double bed, a mini bar fridge & a sea facing balcony with 2 chairs with a small table to enjoy the view of the sea. Plenty of pillows & the pillows were better than many other hotels. The mattresses were firm enough, not sagging. Sufficient complimentary toiletries provided. The magnetic key cards for the room door worked well. Breakfast variety was decent, from conti to local menu. The check-out process was breeze with no drama & the deposit duly refunded but a receipt was not provided. Hopefully when I return the next time, the renovations will be done with & in a less chaotic atmosphere because I came for quiet getaway weekend with my wife, not to get more stressed. 😅 There's definitely room for improvment.

I booked the tower room for family of 3 adults and 2 children. We checked in at 4.30pm and I noted that the amenities e.g. towels, slippers etc were only for 2 person. I called house keeping and they told me that they will only be able to send the additional towels and others by 1730. We waited till 1800 but still no staff showed up. Frustrated, we decided to go to the beach hoping that when we return, our request would have arrived.

We came back from the beach at 1900 and yet nothing received. At this point, I called house keeping and insisted that they send over immediately. Thankfully, it came in less than 10 mins.

The next horror was the water heater, both the shower and bath had no hot water. Imagine being with kids and just back from the beach - everyone was wet and cold. No choice, we had to endure to shower with cold water.

I later went down to the reception and told them of my experience. One of the lady in charged, offered to change our room.

Thankfully the new room had working hot water and the towels, bottled water etc were the right count. Nonetheless, repacking and unpacking with kids was not a happy experience.

In terms of cleanliness, I will give it a decent pass. This is an old hotel/resort but you can still see that the owners do upkeep/ restore- e.g. interior walls are repainted and windows/curtains are kept clean. As mentioned, this is an old resort/hotel so don’t have high expectations. I appreciate that it was relatively clean as I have experienced much worst 4/5 stars resorts in PD. Personally, I think if you want to go to PD - just got for Lexis as the safest bet.

Value for money - yes

Breakfast was decent; continental and local. There is also an egg station. And the manager was present making sure everything was in order. Staff were ample and plates/tables were cleaned...
