Chardin restaurant is, in my opinion, one of the best Chinese style seafood restaurants so far. The food is very excellent, one of my favourites are the dried chilli chicken, which has an exquisite amount of wok hay in the flavour of the dish and the generous amount of chopped onions that does the job well for the general sweetness of the chicken! Other than that, the soy sauce steamed fish (I ordered jenahak) is also my go to dish whenever I come to the restaurant. The fish itself is cooked to perfection, with tender meat and the everlasting umami taste that very much activated my tasting senses. The fish tastes quite fresh compared to other restaurants that I've been in so far. The other thing I like is the service and overall atmosphere, The restaurant has one of the best services so far, with friendly staff and quick serving time. Though, the restaurant wasn't full house during my visit, so take that part with a grain of salt. The atmosphere is very much aesthetically nice, especially the view of the ocean. One...
Read moreA piece of nostalgia for me. My father brought me and my family here for a very long time since I was 5 years old might have been longer and then he stopped going here for some reason. I thought they closed down but I was so happy when I found out they were actually still operating after all these years! OK food was pricy for about 7 adults and 4 kids we paid around 5XX We had kam heong lala, fried veges, sweet sour chicken, Hong Kong style grouper, shark fin and crab meat soup and a few other things I couldn't really remember. Overall I think the taste isn't that bad like other reviews make it out to be. Food came to us rather quickly and the fish was taken from the tank like in the video. Tanks also looked clean in my opinion. Anyway, I had a great time and was happy I could bring my own children to the place my parents once brought me frequently when I was a kid. I'm giving 4 stars cause there are some things that need to be improved but overall it was a...
Read moreThe good things about Chardin are the dining area is spacious. You won't be feeling cramped like usually seafood restaurant is. They also have live seafood on display (albeit selected few; such as tilapias, crabs and lobsters). Perhaps I arrived not at their peak time, the service was pretty fast. Yeah, the ocean view (especially during sunsets) helps to elevate the mood while waiting the food to be served.
Now, about the not so good things. We ordered fried seabass, mixed vegetable and dried butter prawn. The mixed vege was the main star as it flavourful (enough), while the fish and the prawn were very ordinary. Maybe due to low occupant having dinner at that time, they opted not to switch on the aircond, so it tends to be warm after a while.
If you're visiting PD and would like to have seafood, not too picky, and prefer ample parking space, you won't go wrong to dine here. Otherwise, you it may be worth exploring...
