Food taste ok, just quite disappointed with the signature bamboo dish. Was expecting the soup cooked inside the bamboo to have some nice aroma but in reality it’s not like that, more like serving cooked soup in bamboo container only. The soup is not really “special as many other reviews mentioned. If fact it is pepper ginger soup. Very similar to kajang spicy soup 辣汤, the difference is that the one in kajang use pork and here using seafood, and of course this one using less pepper and ginger, less spicy.
points: Very quick serving, basically just within minutes from order the paku came and follow by bamboo lala.
points: Strong stinky smell of rotten rubbish from garbage outside the premise. The wind brought the smell into the restaurant during the time I ate there. I got 1/6 unfresh prawn mixed in my dish, informed them when I paying the bill and I got responded by telling me “it’s ok, maybe the prawn was at the bottom during……” I’m a bit stunned when he told me “it’s ok”, looks like he used the wrong term
Food for thought: Pricing maybe subjective based on area and demand vs supply. I counted 13 pieces of small-mid size lala for the soup at RM25. The bamboo has no sign of burning, I don’t get it served with fire underneath it like I saw from some review, it doesn’t smell or taste any bamboo or wooden aroma, and the bamboo has black stain/mold at the inner face of the cut, it’s hard for me not to think that the bamboos are just a container which will be reused...
Read moreHi, I just wanted to share my experience. During my visit on a Saturday night, as expected there was many people having dinner. During my arrival, I was the first on the queue list, follow by 2nd and 3rd group before me as the sequence acknowledge by the owner. Then there was 1 family of around 8pax with our disbelief totally ignore our presents queueing up and just went in to chop the table as there was 1 family just went off. Those who was queuing up was not happy, we started confrontating the owner of the poor handling of the situation. Finally the owner politely remove the family who was comfortable sitting at the table to allow those in queue to dine first. We hope the owner implement ticketing number with sittings outside to avoid those ignorance uneducated customer from cutting queues. Now about the delicious and affordable dinning experience. Sorry didn't get to take photo because of the situation and we were too hungry and started to munch down the food. Anyways this is what we ordered, sang tang lala which tasted so good I drink finish the soup that was served in a bamboo, deep fry squid which my son try squid for the first time and he fell in love it. It was not chewy like rubber, sweet sour chicken with yem, and sweet potato leave vege. We will definitely come back and I really recommended to anyone visit Port Dickson to try. Thank you to the...
Read moreUnassuming restaurant located at the corner shoplot just outside Grand Lexis Port Dickson (4 mins drive away). Spacious with good distance between tables. We ordered steamed tilapia (Fei Zhou) with bean sauce, salted egg squid, egg with oyster, minced meat tauhu and paku-pakis (same with the 'milin' fern commonly seen in restaurant in Sarawak). The food were generally good, not outstanding but hit the mark, except for the oyster egg. Service was decent, staff were courteous and could help with recommendation if you want (menu is available with pricing). The food were served pretty fast despite a sizeable crowd. Flies were a nuisance but this problem is not exclusive to this restaurant. We spent RM150+ for a family of five, the fish costed RM60+. If you're conscious on budget, you can give crab & fish a skip. Many other options in the menu with reasonable price, considering it's a tourist area. If you're staying in Grand Lexis & too lazy/late to venture far, this restaurant is a safe bet and...
