Hotel Jelai — Hotel in Pahang

Went on Friday (without room reservation) and choose this hotel cause we saw people are setting up canopy opposite the street (2-3 minutes walk) which we assume it's a night market and we are right!||||Below are simplified comments for travelers: -||PROs||1. Spacious family room with 2 queen beds and spacious enough for kids to run around as very affordable rate for weekend stay. ||2. Amenities - 4 towels, 4 small soap bar, 1 bottle of 1.5liter mineral water, 4 glasses, 1 plastic jug water, 1 toilet roll.||3. Vanity counter with mirror and 1 wooden chair||4. Aircond (no fan)||5. Water heater||6. Free in-room wifi||7. Square TV with good Astro channels.||8. Good location walking distance just opposite of the road in 2-3 minutes walk|| - overnight market (pasar malam it's still operating when we left on Saturday afternoon) selling foods, clothes, vegetables, fruits and lots more|| - lots of shoplot selling basic needs|| - MR DIY store which there's lots of stuff you might need||||CONs ||1. I think the aircond was not cleaned nor service for a long time as the flap filled with dark dust as we all sneezing like hell the whole night!||2. Hair was not cleared inside bathroom water trap||3. Water heater mouldy||4. Bidet hose filthily and mouldy||5. Bath towel too worn out||6. Floor mat place on the bed!||||Yes we pay very cheap rate but how does it take to keep hygienic: -||1. service/wash filter and wipe clean the aircond flap||2. change filthily and mouldy bidet hose||||We didn't complain to reception as it's only...

We are so disappointed with the service of this hotel. We checked into this hotel last Chinese New Year 2013. When we woke early the very next morning to use the washroom, THERE WAS NO WATER!! We ran down to complain to the front desk downstairs and found a crowd of angry guests complaining about the water cuts. The hotel do not have any maintenance personnel  at hand to look into the problem and the front desk workers were helpless. We demanded a return of our money as we would never check into the hotel had they been honest to us. Clearly they have misrepresented themselves here. Further discussions showed that the hotel had indeed got problems with their water pumps for quite some time now but the management had failed to repair them. We had one day in Kuala Lipis and found this hotel to be clean, comfortable, reasonably sized and with friendly staff.||Rooms were basic, had aircon and tv but no tea,coffee making option.||Rooms on second floor but no lift.||Wifi available but poor unless you went to the reception area on first floor.||Our Rooms had river views which were good although not all in hotel do. ||Hotel was good value for money and offers good access to Kenong Rimba Forrest park.||We went through the park with Arif who provided wonderful hospitality and great local knowledge.
