Despite its strategic location near Skyworld Genting, my family’s stay at Wyndham Ion Majestic had several letdowns.
Arrival & Check-in The road leading to the hotel felt unsafe at night due to poor lighting. Check-in itself was smooth as the lobby is on the G floor, but there was no proper signage to guide guests there.
Cleanliness & Comfort Unfortunately, the 19th-floor corridor had a strong unpleasant smell (urine/stench) which caused discomfort for my family. Inside the room, cleanliness was below expectation — dust was noticeable, and the carpet wasn’t properly vacuumed. Damp feet easily picked up dust and hair. That said, the room itself was fairly comfortable for two people, and the balcony view was a highlight.
Lift & Accessibility The hotel has 6–7 lifts serving up to the 49th floor, but during check-out, the experience was frustrating. We waited more than 30 minutes just to get a lift down. Even when full, the lift continued stopping at almost every floor, turning the ride into a 15-minute descent.
Breakfast Experience Breakfast was average at best. The paratha resembled hardened poori rather than proper paratha, and the overall spread was limited (egg station, cereal, bread). My kids didn’t enjoy the food.
Facilities The indoor pool on the 13th floor was overcrowded during the Merdeka long weekend. Water overflowed into the lift area, creating a slippery and potentially dangerous hazard. The overall design of the hotel, especially level 13 (i.e., kids’ room, gym, pools, and spa), felt confusing. Rather than giving a true “hotel experience,” the property felt more like a deteriorating serviced apartment.
WiFi & Connectivity WiFi was extremely unstable throughout the stay. Anyone relying on internet access will struggle here. Perhaps the only positive is that it forces you to disconnect and enjoy nature instead.
Verdict While the balcony view is positive, the negatives — from poor lift management, cleanliness issues, and average food, to unsafe and poorly planned facilities outweighed the good points. For the branding Wyndham, the experience fell short of...

We had a very poor experience during our stay at this hotel in Genting, which certainly does not reflect a 5-star standard. From service to facilities, almost every aspect was below expectations.
Despite informing the hotel in advance that we were celebrating our anniversary and requesting a room with a view, the request was ignored. Instead, we were placed in a corner room facing other rooms, which felt impersonal and disappointing.
The room itself was uncomfortable — the bathroom had a persistent smell, the shower was clogged, the TV system was outdated with corrupted information, and even the pillows were unsupportive. The cleanliness left much to be desired, with a fly found in the room. The room temperature was also uncomfortably cold and unadjustable, even without the air conditioning switched on. Dont expect a good night sleep if you are a light sleeper.
Service was equally underwhelming. Staff showed little warmth or attentiveness, with no greetings or proactive assistance. Information about amenities was not provided unless asked, and there were no brochures or in-room guides available. Lift is always packed, there are 6 lifts in total, but you will have to wait forever to get into one. Very small lifts.
Breakfast was another letdown. The food was bland, choices limited, and extra charges applied even for basic items like certain egg dishes. It hardly felt worth including in the package. The swimming pool was small and overrated, and the waterpark required an additional fee and was overcrowded.
Although we had booked two nights, we decided to cut our stay short and checked out after just one night because the overall experience was so unsatisfactory.
In summary, this hotel falls far short of the 5-star rating it claims. The service, facilities, and overall environment are more in line with a budget property. If you value good service, comfort, and attention to detail, I would recommend...
Read moreThe hotel is decent overall — clean and reasonably maintained. Some of the staff, especially those working around the swimming pool, truly deserve credit for their friendliness and professionalism. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The parking situation is downright disgusting and left the worst impression. Although there are tiny signs scattered here and there mentioning that guests must validate their car registration for free parking, they’re barely noticeable. The whole process is a complete hassle — every time you want to exit, you have to go all the way down to the ground-floor reception, tell them your car number, and then rush out within 30 minutes. The first time, I had no idea and ended up being charged an outrageous amount for just a few hours of parking — money I couldn’t even reclaim. After speaking to other guests, I found out many of them faced the exact same issue.
And don’t get me started on the elevators. They are painfully slow — absolutely maddening during check-out or meal times. For a property with over 50 floors, this is unacceptable. Some elevators weren’t even working. When we checked out, our elevator literally stopped at every single floor for almost 30 floors straight. Good luck getting out within 30 minutes during peak hours — it’s impossible.
To make matters worse, during check-in, the system already asked for our car registration — naturally, we assumed it was linked to parking. It wasn’t. Guests are expected to repeat the whole process manually every single time they exit.
Aside from Hard Rock (which is overpriced), food options in the area are rather miserable. And the children’s playroom? It reeked of rat urine — a serious hygiene issue that the management must address immediately.
In summary: a clean hotel with good pool staff, but ruined by frustrating systems, slow elevators, and poor maintenance. The experience left more stress than...
