Pearl View Hotel — Hotel in Penang

Pros, location is quite strategic and easy to find food. Big rooms.Cons, hotel room mentioned it is non smoking area but there is terrible and strong smoking smell issues in our room every night start from midnight until the next morning around 8am. Not sure why the smoke detector is not functioning. This is very bad experience and affected our sleep quality. We had reported to the hotel receptionist start from first day but still the same issue’s happening on next day. Also, our hotel room’s tv keep shows no signal and totally can’t use. Hotel Wi-Fi also not stable. The foot of the table was damaged causing a cut to my foot with wounds. When we try to call to receptionist by using the room deskphone few times, there are no receptionist pick up (of course it is working hours but there is mentioned by the hotel said they have 24hours front desk). Upon we call, only one times is picked up by the receptionist in the working hours. Also, there is a cockroach in our room. We totally frightened by it. The hotel Spa is closed permanently too which told by receptionist. There is no outside swimming pools, and it is not same as what mentioned in the trip.com website, BUT this even show as the hotel highlights! Dishonest of the hotel amenities description in the website, we felt cheated. (Attached screenshot) Please take more attention on above matters! I came here on business events and saw that this is a 4 star hotel. Hmm idk where does the 4 star comes from. I can only give Max 3 stars. Sorry as I am disappointed. The price of the room seems to bit a bit pricey with the condition. The TV is no good and there's line unable me to watch ! How come they give broken tv to customer? The carpet also dirty. I advise they change those carpet that seems to age longer than my pet's life.

There's convenient store and it seems their lobby decorations is quite vintage but for me, they should change the fabric of the sofa thou. It's outdated. Only their cafe seems nice. Yeah their electricity seems to be well maintained. Safe and there's also iron and iron board in the room. It's my honest review.

I didn't expect much from an old building but I went to a lot old hotel before thou. I breakfast here haha and guess what I think that the chef isn't compatible to be a chef. What the hell is Malaysian cuisine if you can't cook nasi lemak. The sambal isn't cook and taste awful! Even fried dim sum and steam dim sum taste awful , it's not fresh. Oh yeah even the cereal like honey star(not original) one taste awful. The staff aren't friendly and what the does the staff do ? Why don't the staff collect the used dining ware? Gosh. I am a guest who checked in on the 24th and shall check out on the 26th. However, due to a series of unpleasant service during our stay, we had to check out earlier.

Specifically, in the midnight of 25th (close to 3 am), while my friends and I were resting in our room, guests next to our room were playing loud music and causing a disturbance that disrupted our sleep. When I went to request them to lower the volume and stop the disturbance, I met with threats and disrespectful behavior. During this incident, I observed that these guests were not only consuming alcoholic beverages but also suspected one of them to be in a state of drug use. Due to concerns for our safety, we decided to leave the room immediately.

Subsequently, I lodged a complaint with the front desk staff (a young and tall individual named Jimsy or a similar name). However, when we requested a room change, but this staff not only displayed a poor attitude but also refused our request, saying that the hotel rooms were fully occupied. After a heated argument, he reluctantly agreed to relocate us to another room, but nearly an hour had passed by then. Furthermore, the new room provided only two beds instead of the three we had initially booked. Exhausted, we were unable to continue the discussion with this staff member.
