This is not bad hotel, for a short stay. It offers all your basic needs, bed with clean sheets, bathroom with shower, clean towels and working AC. I happen to stay there for over 3 weeks because it was cheaper than Airbnb. That is also a great plus, the price is good. The staff is very friendly and helpful, when I had certain objections as to my room they quickly tried to remedy my concerns. There is a restaurant at the hotel so you can dine by just comming downstairs. Restaurant is vegetarian so I did not dine there but it looked nice, clean and smells were great. There is plenty of restaurants just 5 min walk across the street at Jalan sr 8/4, highly recommend all of them. There are several stores in the area as well as coin laundry. When I was staying there the train station was closed to public it will be much more convenient when it opens, I was relying on Grab services all the time. But there are certain issues, you notice them as you live longer in one room, pictures do not exactly show it, my room had no windows, air circulation was kinda poor, the walls were freshly painted white however the AC unit was almost yellow from what I could assume was cigarette smoke, found some burn marks on furniture which reinforced my suspicion that the room used to be a smoking room just recently renovated but after a while you could smell the cigarette smell, probably mostly that AC unit soaked lots of it, furniture could be replaced as well, it was well worn and also soaked fair bit of the cigarette smells. The room safe was damaged so no place to put valuables or passport. Initially I found shower cabin bit moldy, I understand that in such weather and poor room circulation this will be an issue but its one that can be just cleaned, fortunatelly the staff did just that and bathroom was clean after I voiced my concerns. The water heater was a very old model and did not give me the hot water I was accustomed to, it was ok when you turned down the water flow but nothing extreme. I was quite amused with tiny 19 inch lcd tv on the wall, it was ancient, didn't even have a hdmi port so couldn't connect my laptop and watch movies at night. Room was not soundproofed at all when I got some noisy neighbours for 3 nights in a room adjecent, ear plugs barely did the job. Fortunatelly the pillows were so nice I fell a sleep almost instantly, I haven't had sucha nice pillow in a long time, quite honestly I was planning on stealing it given that the fine list was posted on the desk so I knew how much I would get charged for this little crime, alas my suitcase was full. There was a fuse box in the closed that continued to humm all the time, kinda got used to that sound but I would prefer for it to be gone. So overall I was satisfied, in the long run I would prefer room with a window, and bit bigger this was like 15square meters or so, even for one person bit small. Thats why I commented on pictures not fully giving the size and quality of the rooms, had a chance of peeking into couple other ones as they were cleaned and not much difference. So overall I'm satisfied, clean sheets, free wifi, comfy beds. Could be better, could be fresher and maybe install new tv and ac unit. Also bit far from city center so spent fair amount on Grab to get me to the nearest station that was open. There is a lot of homeless cats in the area, bag of cat food costs 5RM in local store, do feed the, some store owners leave bowls with water and some food for them, do give them some as well. Happy cat is non...
Read moreThe room is okay, old but clean. Nothing much to complain. Little noisy room because beside sg.besi toll but not too bad that I can't tolerate
However the big issue i faced is from their service which was a very big issue.
Issues: When we were checking in which was around 8pm, we booked the room and paid already at agoda. They said they didn't get it in the system and they asked us to wait for some time before they were able to solve it. We didn't complain and waited and they able to get us to the rooms.
The next day, we extend our stay because of personal issue and we paid and extend the room. We told to the foreign worker at the counter and extend our stay in same room and inform that the tv was not working. Once we were out, they called and told us that they can't get us the room and must change room or not we have to pay penalty. Another option they gave was to pay rm30 per room to stay at the same room. This is ridiculous because the hotel staff at the lobby didn't say anything at all and they expect us to come to the hotel lobby and solve the issue. We even paid for their mistake just to not argue much abt it.
We checked out and on the way back home, they called us and said we might mis-took their spoons. I said nope we didn't and I even checked for them. I can't recall seeing any spoons at the hotel room and they don't even have any instant coffee tea packets prepared and we also didn't do any hot drinks for ourselves. I told them nicely nope we didn't take any, yet the staff were pressuring me that he can claim the money of the spoon. This is our breaking point, we really defend ourselves and no way will pay price of 2 spoons.
The service is the poorest and their fault in system, customer have to pay the price....

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Mangga Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff were unfriendly and even displayed racist behavior. I had made two separate bookings—one month in advance for both booking and the second for a stay seven days later.
Shockingly, my second booking was canceled at the last minute, just a day before check-in at 3:57 PM, without any prior notice. I only found out on the actual day when I logged into Agoda trying to book an additional room for my family. This was absolutely unacceptable!
When I contacted the hotel, the staff spoke to me in a rude and unhelpful tone, simply dismissing my concerns and telling me to deal with Agoda. Agoda then informed me that the hotel had tried to reach me multiple times via phone and email—which was completely false. I was in town the entire time and never received any calls, emails, or messages.
To make matters worse, the reason for the cancellation was that the hotel was “fully booked.” But my reservation was made as early as January 10 for a February 1 stay. Canceling at the last minute, during peak season, left me scrambling to find alternative accommodation.
All I got was a simple apology from Agoda not from the Mangga Hotel itself who’s is the one canceled my booking. A refund from booking—no compensation, no accountability.
This level of service is beyond terrible. Completely unprofessional and unreliable. I strongly advise against booking with Mangga Hotel if you want a...
