Terrible service for a so called palace. Had bad experience from the moment i arrived here with the under trained staff.
firstly, at the concierge i had ask for a trolley for my bags. while i was asking for assistance, the staff cut me off halfway in an unpleasant way to tell me he doesnt understand bahasa , and asking me to speak english. i have no problem with the language he prefers but the way he had said it was endeniably rude and unacceptable for a front desk receptionist.
while carrying my bags to the trolley, he left the car door open and just left straight away without a word.
it was time for me to check in and i dealt with the unfriendliest receptionist. very unwelcoming experience and a bad first impression to the guests considering its a customer service job.
in the room, there is no details on how to contact the reception. there is a phone but no numbers were given to contact anyone where we had to guess the number to call reception. we had to call operations simply to call a bell boy.
next, the person in charge of sending our extra bed was barefoot when he came.
another upsetting experience was when waiting for the lift to arrive, a worker was pushing around a box of ice into the lift, where he had a huge spill and cussed loudly and shutting the door lift quickly where i was standing.
the workers here have no priority to the guests to use the lift. for instance, two workers simply hogged the whole lift, and not giving priority to a couple with a new born baby who had a stroller with them. other than that, the janitors with their trolleys will hog the whole lift, ignoring everyone that has been waiting for the lift and closes the door immediatly.
while at the bar, we ordered drinks and he got us the wrong drinks twice despite repeating our order beforehand.
lastly, the same worker dealt with my bags while i was checking out. while he was carrying my clothes that were on a hanger to hang in my car, he literally hit my face with the clothes. very careless and upsetting coming from the same worker who had cut me off on the first day.
10/10 would not come here again. thank u for the...
Read moreI used to stay here a lot on the early 2000's, but I had the honor to go there again for business 20 years later. First of all I can not believe that this place has not changed at all in the 20 years since I last visited. It reminded me of meeting a really beautiful women, but when she smiles, she reveals black rotten teeth, yeah, that kind of sums it up.
First all of smell when you walk from the lifts to the room, mouldy, stale, and not very pleasant.
In the room itself, dusty, not very clean and not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. The room was great, but you are paying 5 star money, and it just looked dated, and the finishing to the room looked like it had been done in a hurry. For example, the panel where you put your room key in for the electricity, there was paint on the panel where someone obviously was in a hurry to finish off the room. The attention to detail was lacking.
I went down to the pool and it has not changed since 20 years ago, and I could see instantly that it was the same furniture for two decades ago that had been renovated (badly) rather than buy new chairs.
It was a lovely hotel 20 years ago, I can see that they have made renovations (for example they have replaced the carpets in the rooms with wood flooring), but the bathroom utilities are still the same and look very tired.
I love KL, I really do, I love the memories of this hotel from where I pretty much lived here for 6 months, but with those good memories I have moved on, perhaps this hotel needs to move on aswell. It needs either a serious renovation or to be knocked down and start again. It will not survive with just patching small thing up gradually over time. It has the potential to relive its glory days, it just needs investment and a serious plan on what it...
Read moreThis review is for 2 years ago in 2019. We just returned from KL in Malasya after staying at The Palace of the golden horses for a week. The hotel was impressive and huge. It is going through refurbishment which is really needed in some places. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The location of the hotel is quite far so you need a car or use their shuttle service. We would recommend: the international restaurant open 24/7 reasonably priced on the savoury foods but not the ice cream which is very expensive; the pool looked lovely and appealing although we did not use it. We also recommend their shuttle service x4 times daily into the mines shopping centre and once daily into KLCC. Room service and wifi good. We do NOT recommend their tours which are just an overpriced taxi drive, no tour is given or historical or local information. Just drop off and pick up. Better to book tours elsewhere with a proper tour guide who will give you the historical background of each and every one of the places advertised to be visited as per the tour pamphlet . They are very keen to promote their "private tours" which are lot more expensive. Anyway the gentleman that drove us was wonderful, friendly, polite, professional and spoke good English but we really wanted a tour. All that said, the hotel is very impressive and quite lovely. The staff are very polite always. We had some issues with our room, the door would not lock properly and their air con was not working well but the duty Manager Mr. Eswaran. C. was wonderful, helpful and very understanding of our issues and after inspecting the room they moved us to another room the following day, which actually had a nicer view of the water falls and fully refurbished. Thank you...
