This was actually really great until they screwed me over and took my money. I stayed 4ish nights here. Good : nice atmosphere, lots of people passing through, general good vibes, good location, friendly volunteers/staff. Bad : I asked if I could leave 1 night earlier than I had booked for and then to come back one day later. Was told by the receptionist that was okay and I paid in advance for the next night (that I was coming back for). Arrived the next day to be told I had no reservation and they were keeping my money as a late cancellation fee for the night before. Owner said the receptionist didn't have authority to agree to my change of plans (fine) but still kept my money.
EDIT : I should clarify for the sake of the reply below. My problem is not the cancellation policy. If I was told I had to pay cancellation this would be one thing. Instead, I was told by the receptionist that I could book an extra two nights and that I was paying for one of those nights. Then I turn up and there is no reservation but the money I was told I had paid to reserve an extra night was being taken as a cancellation fee. The problem here isn’t the cancellation policy - most hostels do this - it’s the receptionist telling me one thing, I then rely on it by paying and turning up expecting a reservation for 2 nights and have nothing. The receptionist even let me keep the key to the hostel because I was coming back the next day. Regardless of the cancellation fee, what happened to my reservation. Anyway TL:DR : it’s a nice hostel but You might end up having a problem and if you do they’re not going to show you any understanding just hold on to your money. I’ve stayed in hostels around the world - not everyone does...
Read moreI am still waiting for a full or partial refund. I had to leave at 1:45 PM, after paying for that night earlier in the morning, because I found out at the ferry office that the last ferry availability for the whole week was leaving later that day. The hostel is decent enough but noisy, and the location is good, although they are really chintzy as far as blankets and any other necessities go. During the winter it does get chilly at night, but you only get a very thin blanket and they want to charge extra for an extra blanket which I find pretty ridiculous. Anyway they should refund at least half my money for the day I had to leave unexpectedly and really just amounted to a late check out. I requested a refund and the staff told me they thought at least 1/2 refund was fair, and I left two text messages for the owner without a response back. I see they have a couple one star reviews regarding some kind of misunderstanding with money/ credit/refunds, and I now know why. Anyway If you need a cheap place that’s decent to stay at in La Paz this is OK but be very careful with what you pay them, and do not expect any kind of decency or fair treatment by the owner.
You're response is weak, and what does a third party have to do with anything? I paid cash, and a couple hrs. later had to change plans. There is no ethical reason not to give me at least 1/2 money back. Any caring and decent business would do that. You obviously only care about money and it shows in how your hostel is...
Read moreGreat location with the melacon a 5/10 minute walk away. Handy to nearby restaurants and an OXXO.||||Myself and my two friends were booked in a 6 bed mixed dorm for 4 nights in April 2022. We arrived late (after the 9pm check in deadline) but made contact with the hostel via WhatsApp. They left instructions for us on where to get our keys and what beds we had. A great first impression!||||However, there were not enough lockers in the room for the amount of beds. We were lucky we were travelling together so could share. Curtains only covered half of the beds and there was a lack of charging points for each bed. This has been commented on in previous reviews but nothing has been done about it..||Our room couldn't be locked and was often left wide open all day. The security gate to the hostel was always left open too.. Very poor security.||||The shared bathrooms were opposite our room however they were right next to the open plan kitchen. Therefore we heard anyone and everyone who used the kitchen from our room. Poor layout. Also there was one tiny sink for people to wash hands/brush your teeth. Not even a shelf nearby to put your stuff on. ||||We went on the free walking tour with the hostel which was fine. About 30-40 mins walk down along the melacon and into a few back streets. It could easily be done on your own though!||||We actually ended up leaving a night early as we weren't enjoying staying here and found a much nicer place further down the melacon at...
