I recommend foreigners who do not have a perfect grasp on Spanish to stay far away from this place.
This morning, I had an experience at this restaurant that left me very upset. Let me begin by saying that I'm in the process of learning Spanish so that I can better experience and appreciate Mexico, but I'm very much at the beginner level. Still, I have been trying to order and converse in Spanish everywhere I go during my extended stay here in La Paz.
Apparently, something was lost-in-translation this morning when I ordered my breakfast here. In my two previous visits to the restaurant, I have had no problem communicating my order to the server. The enchiladas, which I love, come in orders of two or four pieces. This morning, I asked for the two, as I have previously, but instead of two pieces, I received two plates of two enchiladas. The best I could, I tried to communicate to the server that I only ordered one plate of two pieces. The server argued with me that I had ordered two plates. Finally, he huffed and took away the second plate.
But, when I asked for more coffee, the server came back to argue some more with me. He accused me of using incorrect terminology and spat at me that I needed to use the words "dos piezas" o "uno platillo" o "uno orden de dos piezas". Yes, my Spanish was probably wrong, but I'm learning and that's not a reason to humiliate me. Plus, common sense would indicate that ordering two plates of two enchiladas for myself would be a bit strange.
I'm ashamed to say that I was so upset by the events that unfolded, I exited the restaurant in tears, leaving my partner behind to finish his meal alone and settle the bill alone.
Needless to say, I won't be returning to this restaurant again, which is a real shame as the food...
Read moreThe actual restaurant looks beautiful and colors are vibrant. My daughter chose this restaurant because of the huge selection on menu. We were celebrating my birthday and felt that this place would be perfect. Sadly it was not so. It appears the servers are overworked and there was a long wait before we ordered. We ordered scone and there server said she will come back. While snacking on last bit of scone another server came to us and asked us to leave. I thought she was about to take my scone from me when I said in English I’m still eating. We did not even get our main meal as yet ,which were two Irene enchiladas and San Valentin. I took my phone to translate in Spanish when our server came by and informed the young lady that we did not get our meals as yet. That was rather awkward and uncomfortable. Sadly the young lady didn’t apologize and walked away. When finally got our meals after about 1 hr, the meal was cold. The complimentary chips and beans were not served either and when we asked to box it we were billed for the containers. Very disappointed with...
Read moreGood place to have breakfast! A lot of great options with great juices. Didn't give 5 stars because when I arrived to the restaurant I was staring at the menu that it's on a stand right at the entrance and the staff never even greeted me. They surely saw me there a few times and didn't care to welcome me. I had to find my own way to a table, then when I chose to sit outside (not knowing there was an air conditioned room inside) once again no one greeted me or brought me a me menu. I had it, so I went to look around and found an indoor place and found a place to sit by myself. Once our waiter was assigned service was great. I would just suggest the owners look into placing a sign somewhere about sitting on your own, or to have someone paying attention to arriving guests. I saw multiple waiters just standing chatting on their own, surely one of them could be hosting...
