The owner is a crook.....Be warned!!! We usually stay at La Marina Inn at La Playita (behind El Ganzo) just down the street, but I wanted to try something different. This lady is an "old school" bamboozler....Our reservations were for the 3rd, leave on the 5th; two nights.....we decided to change our dates due to travel plans up the east cape, and stopped in to reschedule our check in date and cancel one evening. We spoke to a Mexican lady working there, who the owner later called just her "maid" who had apparently had no authority to do anything, except "maid" (the significance of this will follow later in the post).
The "maid" called the aforementioned owner on the phone to tell her of the reservation changes, IN THE PRESENCE OF MY HUSBAND. Everything was hunky dory, VERBAL confirmation, which any reputable business honors. On the 8th, upon check in, I am immediately presented with a credit card slip to sign for the remainder of payment (50% was already charged upon reservation) by the "maid." Mind you, we are on vacation, and surprisingly are not on our email 24/7...
We are shown our room, and then lo and behold, the owner in crook arrives to tell me that she is charging us for the days we had rescheduled....stating that she never received ANY written notice or otherwise, of the reservation reschedule and that the lady who we spoke to was just the "maid".....mind you, when I called tonight from the states after our trip to dispute the SECOND charge, the owner did indeed admit that, yes, we had changed the reservations, she was aware of it, despite her protest initially that the person we talked to was just the "maid" and she never got the phone call....but, her "policy" is to charge from the minute of reservation regardless of any changes.
Save yourself a lot of hassle and pathetic tourist rip off indignation, which thankfully is RARE in Los Cabos, its such a great little town!!!! There are so many businesses in Los Cabos that are good, honest, and want to earn your tourist dollars legitimately....give it to them rather than this blatantly dishonest bottom feeder surviving on the "old school" rip off trade. By the way, there was one person staying there at El Dolphin Blanco....and it looked like he'd been the only one there in a long, long while. ...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 nights at El Delfin Blanco in January before a dive trip to Socorro. The setting is very peaceful - outside of San Jose del Cabo in a quiet village. You stay here and you experience the real Mexico - have breakfast at the shack where all the fishermen eat before an early start, catch the local bus into San Jose del Cabo, walk along the beach to the Estero for incredible birdwatching. Osa is a real character and passionate about Mexico and the environment. The room was lovely - really comfortable and beautifully decorated. A must-do is to have Osa's Swedish pancakes on the terrace with home-made jams. Fantastic. Osa goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect - she gave us lifts, booked a driver and even came to see us when we returned from our dive trip to make sure we found our booked driver. We loved hanging out with Osa and chatting about her long time in Mexico. This is a place for travellers not tourists - take your time and enjoy the...
Read moreI am so sorry I took so long to write this review. My husband and I traveled here with our 6-month old son and it was the perfect place for us to land for a few days before we explored more of Baja Sur with other family members. We don't like resorts, but were nervous traveling for the first time with a child. Osa was so nice to us, even arranged a car for us, and we were very comfortable. A swimmable beach is very close by, and it is NOT full of gringos. You can meet actual locals instead of a bunch of drunk Americans and Canadians. It was great. We loved the Drunken Sailor, walking distance from El Delfin Blanco. The food was great, and the waitresses and even the tattood bartender passed my baby around so we could eat and have a beer....But real Mexico is always like that! Anyways, if you want a high-end resort experience, no, do not stay here. If you are a "traveler" and like to relax, talk to people, etc...then this is a great...
