The good - Very nice Home/Townhouse with stunning views and nice decor. Costa Baja’s Hillside residence. I believe a few decide to rent when not in use. If you go through Booking.com and or the resort your accommodations will include a golf cart and daily maid service and access to the Beach Club. Very spacious two bedroom (two levels) with option for third bedroom bonus room if needed. The master bath area in our unit was spectacular. Kids had their own bathroom with shower. Two balconies. The beds are very comfortable. Pillows not so much. Down by the 1st class marina the restaurants are unusually good for hotel fare. We in particular enjoyed the Italian option as the kids did eat well there. Adorable coffee shop with a few souvenirs also by marina. We felt very safe. The security seems top notch! We did not need the doctor but nice to have one staffed on site. Many options for high end boat rental with captain. Mostly yacht level. The Beach Club is key as the pool with townhomes is not heated. The beach club also has food options until 5:00, the pool is heated a bit, the views are great, nice lounging areas, ping pong, access to actual beach. The beach is average at best but did have above average seashell hunting.||||The ugly - Many amenities (expected to be utilized with additional fee) listed were just unavailable or no longer exist. I do not believe the spa is open or working. I had to ask three times for spa information and was finally given a phone number to call. The concierge is not available until 11:00pm as stated. We only were able to find once in the five night stay. Had to ask concierge and front desk four times about tour options before someone eventually got back to me with a unhelpful response. If you have a tour booked in advance, no desire for a spa, and and do not need the assistance of the front desk you will be fine. Also we had the maid service leave our door not only unlocked but slightly open. The first evening we had no way to lock the sliding door and we alerted the desk immediately. No one came to fix until the second day. We got no apology. ||||Still would consider staying here again as the facility’s are the best around! We would not depend on the office to help with any planning. Recommend booking with low expectations on the customer...

Read moreWe just spent 3 nights at a 3 bedroom "oceanfront" villa (in quotes because ocean only visible when standing - when sitting down, cannot see anything over bushes). The experience started on a bad foot when we got to the "lobby" (really a retail shop) where you check in and there was a "back in 10 minutes" sign with no clue when it was posted. ||When someone returned we went to check in and was surprised to find that despite paying about $1000 USD per night (with taxes), they ask if you want housekeeping and if so, its an additional $25 per night extra. The price isnt the issue, its the sense of nickel and dimed for extras on top of a $3000 bill. Then they charge a $5 deposit for each plastic card key you don't return - again, more the sense of being nickel and dimed that just felt bad. ||After waiting until 4pm for room to be ready (fine, it was the promised time), you are led to your room and then received the fastest ever overview (and its a 3 bedroom villa with kitchen, etc and needed more explanation) - it was like he wanted to get out of there as fast as possible vs making sure we understood anything about the unit. Again, more the sense that service is not part of their repertoire. ||After the person left we discovered the hot tub was cold and dirty and one of the toilets didnt flush. They did come back to fix both but were not fixed until the following day which is a lot when you only have a 3-night visit. They comped us breakfast for the issue, but that didnt feel adequate vs the issues. ||The last night we purchased steaks and groceries to make dinner. We went to start cooking only to discover their cookware doesnt work with their induction stove. After 90 minutes of them determining that we were correct in identifying the issue, we were comped room service which had an hour wait, which ultimately meant dinner at 9:45pm. ||The following morning we needed to check out and return the keys for the silly $25 deposit, only to find the "lobby" wasn't open yet. Not a huge deal, but again, annoying and the experience never felt like one would expect at a typical hotel. ||And that is probably the lessen learned - it is NOT a hotel nor resort, so maybe the "service" is really geared for owners not guests. Wish we would have stayed at the nearby...
