Upon arrival at the beautiful hotel no one offered to help me with my baggage after the driver took it out of the trunk. This would have been no big deal except there are three steps up to the lobby. I was pleased to hear that they could switch my room so that I could occupy it right away. My friends stated that when they arrived they had great service and were offered a yummy welcome drink. I did not receive that service or welcome. At check in I was told that the pool was not in service due to repair. I wish that I had been told this when I made my reservation as I had talked to staff at the hotel. Upon returning to my garden view room in the evening I was greeted with flashing lights and music so loud I could clearly hear all of the lyrics and the thumping beat. When I called the front desk I was told it was from a wedding at the restaurant that was also part of the hotel group and there were no available rooms to move to that weren't affected by the restaurant activity. It lasted until after 1:30 in the morning. I used a pants hanger to clip the curtains together to keep out the flashing lights, but that did not help at all with the loud music. This was not the relaxing experience I was expecting from this hotel! There was no offer of any sort of compensation for the ruined evening, what was frustrating to know is that it was the hotel's restaurant so they had control over the ridiculous music volume. After an almost sleepless night I enjoyed breakfast at the other restaurant on site, Barco. I received excellent service and the food was beautifully presented and tasted very good. Next up was the beach club where, when I sat on a lounger I was asked if anyone else was joining me. I said no, and they said the area was for two people. I asked where one person could sit to enjoy the beach and the server shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Eventually the rest of my group showed up so I wasn't approached again. The menus for food and drinks are uniquely printed on fabric, i ordered a mango drink and it was yummy! I had been told that my check out time was 2pm and I confirmed that in the morning, but when I went back to my room at 1:30 my keys no longer worked. A maintenance worked was down the hall so I approached him to see if he could call the front desk, I had my ID in my hand. Without calling or looking at my ID he opened the room door and let me in! I had never seen this worker before so it is not as though he saw me previously exit the room. Upon checking out I told the front desk what happened and was told "that happens sometimes." The hotel is beautiful, the staff that I encountered was nice, but I don't know that I would return due to the lack of service,...

This is my second time to this place, the last time I was there it was brand new in 2008 and it had a very relaxing and tranquil quality. This time when I visited in the last week of September 2017 a lot of changes had taken place. New buildings and a harbor to accommodate larger yachts to name a few. The ambiance I felt had changed somewhat but the the service was still top-notch. Since I had arrived not long after the hurricane had hit; the hotel was still in the process of making minor repairs and modifications, and some of that work could have caused a good deal of unpleasantness had it not been for the staff upgrading my room at a fair price to an area where there was a minimal amount of disruption and distraction; And I thank the staff for giving me room 203, which outside of some anomalies with the air conditioning, was okay with me, the room was comfortable enough with a lot of space and two balconies, one facing south and the other west with spectacular views. They offer a breakfast buffet which I considered average based on my previous experience at this hotel when the buffet and the service was superior in 2008. However, new amenities have been added since 2008 including a concierge, a shuttle to town,as well as shuttles around the property and marina, there is also room service for different types of food if one desires. The beach club is very pleasant to be at and is kid friendly as well. I slept with my windows open as there was a good breeze coming in from the south in the evening which I found to be delightful as it carried the soft scent of the sea. I did not eat at Steinbeck's but in town for the most part because of the diversity of culinary cuisines available. Overall I enjoyed my stay and utilized each day for a new adventure including snorkeling at Isla Espiritu Santo with Fun Baja tours which is located on the Costa Baja property. I do believe that the name is now Costa Baja Resort and Marina. There are lot more pleasure craft moored there now, including sea going Catamarans. I gave it a three star because they are not quite finished with the repairs and the music in the lobby should have been a different genre in my opinion. I have a few more statements to make about this place in another review. Keep in my mind that tourist season officially starts in La Paz from October to the end of December, one of the reasons why they were repairing and modifying...

We were married there last Thursday and there were a number of issues but the main problem was that the cards that our guests gave us that had both cash and checks inside were stolen at the wedding reception. They had been placed on the reception table along with our wedding certificate and although our certificate was returned later that night, our cards were not. One was found by the trash the next morning, opened and with the check missing. We were told by Carlos Guerrero the Food and Bev. Mngr. that they would check the security cameras and would get back to me in a few days. It's now been 8 days and they now say that there are no cameras. Why would you say you would check your cameras if there are are none? One person says one thing and other staff say something else but no one wants to take any action. The General Manager, Eduardo Herrera is completely useless and refuses to even talk to us after we had over 50 guests and had at least half of them at the hotel, you think he would appreciate the business. We had scheduled a meeting to see him today and he did not show up, instead he sent his under-link Carlos to meet with us and told us his agenda was full and he did not even have 5 minutes to spare. What kind of GM treats guests this way refusing to even listen. My family owns and operates a hotel and I worked in management at another hotel so I am familiar with this business and would never refuse to at least listen to my guests. There were other logistical issues with the wedding including that their wedding planner was not present. We understand she was out sick but a hotel who claims to be 5 five should always have a back-up incase someone is out. I can go on and on about other details regarding the lack of service regarding both the hotel and the wedding planning but the main issue now that it's over is the lack of regard from the General Manager. We have filed a formal police report and also a complaint with the office of tourism. Please read other complaints regarding this place on Trip Adviser, it appears theft has been an issue in the past, as well as other issues. Do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions and also under no circumstance hire flower vendor Noel Herrera who is an outside vendor. He is a scam artist who took our money and never delivered any of the...
