What a nightmare for $1850 pesos! I think going to the DMV is a better experience!
When we arrived, there was only one person checking people in, even though it was 3:30 pm and there were probably five couples in line. So we had to stand around with our luggage for about half an hour before getting our key card. The person checking us in was extremely apathetic, and didn't even bother to indicate where the elevator was.
Now the elevator was also an experience. Although both of them "worked", the keycard reader you have to use to get to your floor only worked in one. In the other elevator, we discovered the hard way that if you put your keycard in the reader it loses its magnetic value, and you can't get into your room. There are no stairs, so back to waiting in line again.
The rooms themselves are clean, but the vent on the aircon was broken and had to be pushed out by hand. In addition, something was wrong with the shade, which prevented me firm raising it to actually look out the window. Not that there's much to see: on the ocean side, your view is partially blocked by a power plant; on the other, your view is a strip mall. You can't walk to the beach, and your only food options are a mediocre sushi place that will probably give you food poisoning.
Ironically, even though the hotel is only 13 miles from Tijuana airport and has a van to transport people, they don't do airport shuttles. That is, if you're lucky enough to coax an answer out of the staff.
I know Americans coming down to Tijuana for the weekend might see this place as a bargain, but by Mexican standards, it's terrible value. Even compared to other City Express hotels I've stayed in across Mexico, this one was particularly bad, and next time I'll definitely spend the extra 400 pesos to stay somewhere decent by...
Read moreI’m having a hard time trying to figure it out where to start, so many wrong things from start, we book 3 rooms at $121 per room and their website said $71 per night, we decided well why not, let’s give them a try, so we arrive right at check in time (3:00pm) first thing we heard I don’t have all rooms available, only two, great!! So we insisted and out of the nowhere they had another one available, so we got 3 rooms in 3 different floors, drop everything off in the room and took off for the rest of the day, Carme back to the hotel around 9:0pm I go upstairs to my room and the blinds wouldn’t go all the way down and with my luck right outside my window I had a big light post with the biggest bright light I’ve ever seen, I’ve been up since 2:30 am with no sleep not a very good experience if you ask me, at that time I was already frustrated and went down to report it, the gentleman at the desk told me he will take care of it right away, it is 7:30 am and I’m still waiting for someone to take care of it, hold on there’s more, I get in the shower and the shampoo, conditioner bottles are half empty or maybe half full, no toothpaste, no tissue, the iron don’t work, the floor are dusty and dirty, now I’m angry, I come Down to the service desk and report everything that’s going on and the young lady at the desk tells me, when te manager comes in I will let him know, I pulled out my phone and showed her some pictures and still couldn’t get an apology or will get on it right away and even maybe, let me get you a different room, it’s been the worst hotel I’ve stayed in my life. I’m hoping that the owner sees this and take some action while I’m still here.
PS: The coffee what the only thing I...
Read moreCUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENT!!!!! All staff were very friendly and front desk staff were bi-lingual. I hate that I did not know much of their language. THE ROOM This is not a Marriott type room. Plain, modern and clean with hardwood laminate floors throughout the hotel. Definitely great for allergies. USB ports by the bed and TV in Spanish (turn on subtitles). The bed was not the comfiest and needs more pillows. Bathroom was clean with towels, toliet paper, soap and shampoo. AC-our room had a thermostat so we controlled. CLEANING STAFF Friendly and cleaned well. Infact the hotel itself always had a clean smell. Cleaning staff constantly cleaning including outside. BREAKFAST Good, not a huge selection of foods SECURITY Always had someone on duty. They too always friendly. LOCATION Great location! Not in tourist area (about 3-4 miles away) so walk or taxi for $5-6 USD one way. FYI, taxi’s are everywhere. Ask the hotel staff if you need pickup from the hotel or just flag one down. Old school, no Lyfts or Ubers allowed. Great clean plaza with plenty of food options within walking distance. PLEASE NOTE: at anytime during our stay in the hotel and town of ROSARITO did I ever feel unsafe. We walked everywhere and had no issues. Also, exchange place is on the main road, there are none in the plaza. There was one about 1/4 mile on main road. As you go down further, there were more with better exchange rates. OTHER REVIEWS I DID NOT FIND TRUE: AC, thermost in our room so we controlled, musty smell never, always smelled cleaned (not just our room, the lobby and...
