Del Mar Inn Rosarito — Hotel in Baja California

Family vacation for the weekend. First they put us in a room under the staircase so we had a wonderful view of the janitors closet. The water from the sink and shower was brown and never got warm, not even lukewarm, we skipped showers the entire weekend. The beds are so firm it feels like you're sleeping on a hardwood floor! They do give you a coupon for a free breakfast but it's only good for one person, regardless of how many are staying in your room. The toilet constantly overflowed. The checkout process was very long, I had to stand there and wait watching the guy hold my $20 USD deposit (oh yeah there is a deposit that you don't find out about until you're there) until the maid physically checked my room before he would had my money over. The location is great and the restaurants near by are wonderful! Especially the donut shop across the street and the coffee shop next door. I paid $214 USD for a weekend...that's two nights for an overflowing toilet, cold, brown water, back breaking bed and a view of a janitors closet. Needless to say my family will NOT...

1 star only because ZERO STARS wasn't available. Save yourself the money and stay anywhere else. Parking is minimal, the shower did not get hot, or even warm, had a mediocre bed, there was no fridge in the room and they could not provide me with a "do not disturb" door handle sign when asked. The last straw, was when I checked out a night early from my 2 night stay. They took a cash 40 US dollar deposit for the room key (which is a metal key, not a credit card sized key) and stapled it to my receipt for $218. My receipt literally said 218 dollars when I checked in. When I checked out early, he claimed that he charged me wrong for the night before and it was supposed to be $238. So he kept one of my twenties and did not fully refund my room key deposit. I called his claim BS and ludicrous and demanded a refund but he would not comply. His demeanor and behavior struck me as such that he is no stranger to the game and scammed me for pocket money. His coworkers didn't bat an eye when I looked to them and expressed this concern. This place is in some shady business. I had my reservation for over 8 months. I was contacted 4 weeks prior to my reservation and was informed that I needed to pay a payment prior to arrival, which I was okay with despite the reservation originally being a pay at hotel reservation. Despite 4 additional attempts calling them and requesting the link to make the payment, I was given the runaround and no actual help or final decision on my reservation was ever provided. I was forced to find a last minute hotel somewhere else and ended up paying over 300 US dollars more, because of their shady business or lack of organization. It is not fair for people who have had their reservations for months to have to go through this because they are unable to conduct proper business. It is not my fault that demand is now higher and they had other "outstanding" reservation therefore could not guaranteed me? Shady.... It is a shame as it appears to be one of the best kept hotels in the area, but oh well. Hope this doesn't happen to...
