Hotel Corona — Hotel in Baja California

I usually don't like to judge a hotel by reviews because we have had a lot of good experiences with hotels that happen to have some bad reviews, however my husband and I decided to give this one a try and let me tell you, worst decision ever!!!!! My husband and I travel quite often and had never left a bad review on a hotel but this one, deserves it! First of all, my reservation confirmation said check in was at 1pm, we arrived at about 2pm and the lady that helps us at the front desk took my name, wrote it on a list, and told me to wait in the lobby while they call me to check in! I was like what? Wait for my name to be called?? Yes! So I waited, half an hour passed by and only one other couple had checked in and there was probably 5 people ahead of me still. At that point, I asked the gentleman who was checking people in how much longer my wait was going to be and he said " I cannot give you a time frame, as we are checking people in as the rooms are being cleaned out" I thought "are you serious?" who does that when the rooms should have been ready since 1pm and it was already 3pm by that time. The line for the "waiting list" kept getting longer and longer and everyone was upset saying they have never had to wait so much to get checked in to a room. Fast forward to an hour, and I was finally checked in (2 hours after my arrival and waiting in the lobby where not enough seats were available for the amount of people waiting). There are signs everywhere for "no smoking" yet as soon as we walked into our room, it smelled a lot like weed (in the restroom specifically)! But get this, the security guards at the front entrance are checking everyone to make sure you are not sneaking in alcohol or outside food!!! I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and not once had I've been told alcohol and outside food where not permitted. This is an old rusty hotel, and they seriously treated their guests as if we were checking in to a luxurious Las Vegas hotel (not even in Vegas do you go through that with the amount of people that they have). Rosarito is a party place where mainly everyone that goes, goes to drink and have fun, and the guests that returned from the beach with their drinks where asked to either throw it out or drink it outside. By that time, I was laughing at all of this but even my husband told me, you must write a bad review because this is by far the worst hotel ever. We've even stayed at little motels in Tijuana and not even those were as bad. Oh and on a side note, take your own iron if you plan on staying at this hotel, and need to iron any piece of clothing because they do not have an iron to lend you at all lol also, since there are no phones in the room at all, at 4am someone from the hotel staff came knocking our door (4am) asking us if we know someone who is drunk at the lobby saying they are supposed to be in room 219 (which is the room where we were staying at) mind you, it was just my husband and I!!! My husband was so upset and said "no, we don't know anyone, it's just my wife and I" the more I think about our experience the more things I find but I certainly do not want to go into further details, let me tell just warn you that you will have the worst...

We have not been contacted by your receptionist, about our cash deposit and our refund for lack of Room-Service during our stay here at the Hotel Corona in Rosarito, Mexico.(Check-in on Sunday, July 16, 2017 between 4:00-5:00pm through Check-out on Friday, July 21, 2017 between 11:50-12:20pm). The location was great, it was close to the beach. The price was good. However, check-in was terrible. Check-in was supposed to be at 4 pm, none of the rooms that were booked in advanced were ready, they still needed cleaning. So, after waiting for nearly an hour in the line to check-in, I asked if they could give us a room that was available. The receptionist asked us to leave a deposit of $20.00 U.S. Dollars, so we could get a key to the room. The room was dirty, some of the lights did not work, and it did not have towels. We did not receive room service during our entire 5-night stay, which was terrible. Because we had to keep on going downstairs to complain to the receptionist, just to receive some clean towels and toilet paper. We had to buy some "Raid" bug spray and some Air freshener because the trash was piling up in the room and ants were all over the trash because room-service was not cleaning the room, so we had to clean whatever we were able to clean. The carpet was filthy, we needed to walk around in our beach sandals because there was so much dirt/sand on the carpet. We bought some trash bags, hand towels, bug spray, air freshener, soap, and bottled water at the local "Smart & Final" store down the street. Then when we went to check-out, the receptionist would not give us back our $20.00 U.S. Dollar deposit, because she said that we did not leave any deposit. I told her to check the cameras and to talk to the other receptionist because we did leave a deposit. We didn't get our deposit back. Please let me know what is being done about the terrible situation with your hotel staff, I believe that your staff needs to receive more basic training on how to...

This hotel in Mexico was a very poor stay. When my family checked in, I saw the building of the hotel which looks very nice, but when we get in the floor that leads to our room, the ceiling looks like it was falling apart. When we get into our room, all I see are two beds, a TV with no remote to turn it on, and a nightstand. I was still feeling confident until then, there were no towels to use after you take a shower. And also, the shower was not that warm, it was hot and cold while the shower is on. Also, there are not that many outlets to plug in your devices, one outlet was getting blocked by the nightstand which I need to move it to plug in my phone to charge. When it was night time on 2:00 AM or later, people that are drunk are coming back to their rooms but since they are drunk, they slam the doors, speak super loud, and just don’t care about others that are possibly sleeping. Now the 2nd day of our stay, it was 8:43 PM, people are smoking a lot near our room, it was horrible until then, we complained to the front desk, saying that we can’t handle this anymore. My family was speaking to the manager about the situation that happened. Then I was sitting here, just waiting for the situation is being cared of. When we get back to the elevator to go back to our room, it was still a little smoke but it was going away slowly. So I open the window and when I did, there was no screen that won’t get flies or mosquitoes out of our room. But we need the air to not smell the smoke. It was an awful stay. And also, there was no coffee machine or a refrigerator to store milk or other things. I really not looking forward to going back to this hotel ever. It’s just a waste of your time for your stay/vacation. And also bad customer service. I would rate this hotel 0 stars, but I have no other options but to rate this...
