It's a beautiful property but when I arrived I was escorted away from the room I rented in the dorms to an upgrade which I didn't want but host insisted. I was told I was going to get a great deal on this upgrade and I didn't have the money for it but I went ahead and did it with what money I had. There was no chair in my room only the bed to sit on for a couple of days till the host brought one. I felt like I was a guest in someone's home, like the backyard not a hostel or hotel. There are several large dogs running around and the host told me to look out for them, some were not so nice he said especially when he lets them out. These are the kind of dog owners that think everybody should love their unleashed huge dog immediately. If you're comfortable with very large dogs several at a time off leash, including pit bulls, okay then you're going to love it. The host instructed me what to talk about, gave me lots of unsolicited advice, and asked me intrusive personal questions, such as my plans, my medical history. Several times the host was nice and brought me a plate of food when they cooked dinner in the kitchen, but that was good because I didn't feel comfortable walking around the property with all those dogs and then when you go in the kitchen the dogs think you're going to feed them and come in with you. Also the kitchen was pretty small with no microwave. I was able to make coffee and eggs quickly I wanted to get out of there and back to my room. On the day I was scheduled to leave the host demanded more money for the upgrade that I had already told him I could not afford and that I would have been happy to go back to the dorms as I had reserved. He argued that he had been giving me VIP treatment. I guess he was angry about this and left. No one said goodbye or was even around when I left the property. I wouldn't...

Read moreHector and De Alamo staff are amazing hosts! Hector & Alex (the managers) over many years have taken great care of guests-- my friends and I-- and several friends (as we have become here). Alex & Hector took under their wing as friend and family and introduced us to the local Rosarito community, particularly as Foodies & Coffee lovers. Everyone in the neighborhood knows Hector and loves him. Great hostel, with a very safe, comfortable, communal vibe. I owe Hector a lot-- he made my stay in Rosarito feel like my...
