We decided last minute to visit Guanajuato, (must see) and selected La Casa based on previous TripAdvisor reviews. It turns out that the Hotel has a new owner and the reviews were a bit dated.||No problem though as this turned out to be a perfect stop.||The three of us arrived in the afternoon and were shown our room by the helpful staff.||Our two bedroom accommodations were fantastic. We had a covered sitting area outside and a great view of the courtyard. ||The Hotel is a few minutes drive to the "Historic Centro" and we were pleased with the recommendations of the staff for dining and sightseeing. ||This hotel is more Bed and Breakfast than "chain" hotel and couldn't be more charming. ||Vanessa the new manager, was fantastic and cooked us an excellent breakfast in the morning and then gave us the grand tour.||There are 9 unique rooms with various courtyards, patios, verandas, porches and a common area for breakfast and a living area for just relaxing or visiting.||If you use GPS to get there, believe it when it says you have arrived. The entrance is a hidden driveway is a tight right turn (if you're heading up the street) that descends into the property. ||If you arrive after 22:00, when the gates are closed, just toot your horn and someone will open the gates and get you...
Read moreWe spent 4 nights over the New Year's holiday here at this unique and wonderful Bed and Breakfast. The old hacienda itself is a site to enjoy - whimsically decorated, with Mexican folk art and color. Everything from the bathrooms, to the dishware, to the napkin holders held something special. ||||We had the good fortune of meeting other friendly, interesting guests at our delicious and beautifully set breakfast table. Hugo, the 'inn keeper', was fantastic; accommodating, helpful and thinks of everything. Hearty breakfast of fresh fruit, juice, scones and some Mexican delight held us until late in the day.||||While being a little out of town made it a different Guanajuato experience, it was fun to come back to the house to share a tequila with the other guests or just to snuggle in the most comfortable beds I've stayed in in all of Mexico. There are restaraunts not far from the Inn. Parking, nice sheets, big fluffy towels, filtered water, laundry service, robes (and a skeleton - of course!) in the closet.||||It has been a long time since I have enjoyed a place as much as this one. A perfect ending to our 2 week road trip from Playa del Carmen to Guanajuato! Muchisimas...
Read moreI first stayed in the Ex-Hacienda la Trinidad in the neighbourhood of Marfil when there wasn't space available in the Casa de Espiritus in downtown Guanajuato. I was glad I did though. The Ex- Hacienda is not far from downtown by taxi, only 40 pesos away. It is in a beautiful garden setting with a most charming and helpful host, Hugo. Hugo was very cheerfully up to greet me when I arrived in the middle of the night, and then made the best heuvos rancheros for breakfast the next morning. He seems to know everybody and was immensely helpful with suggestions of what to do, getting me tickets to the Cervantino Festival and even helping me when I lost my debit card! I next stayed in the Casa downtown where lovely Angela was hostess. A great location in the thick of things, it could be a bit noisy but with my ear plugs and the room's wooden shutters it wasn't a problem. Big rooms with antique textiles from Uzbekistan, etc on the walls. Lots of interesting and friendly folks stayed in both locations making this good place for solo travelers to stay. Gracias a...
