Been staying with Hilton for about 4 years now (Diamond Member). I’ve stayed at multiple Hilton properties and this was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. My stay was a 5 day stay. You can see my issues below. Reception staff has probably the worst service I have ever received. From reception to the manager. They prefer to talk with each other than attend to guests. Any question you ask is met with some kind of attitude. There is a lot of construction outside. It’s normal to hear loud noises all day. The construction workers won’t stop working when you pass. Someone was literally using a jack hammer footsteps away from me and did not stop. Most of the side wall was stripped. I actually ended up falling on my way in. My room was right by the upper deck and they played loud music all night. Even some horrible karaoke. The waiters and cleaning staff are amazing. Only thing that kept me going during this horrific stay. Save your money and time. I’ve stayed at multiple Curios throughout the states and Mexico, this one does not meet Curio expectations. You’re better off staying at the Hampton across the street.

The reviews that are positive are fake, induced, or written by ignorant people for whom this dump is amazing... This hotel is owned and operated by criminals. Do not trust them. IHG may on the hotel now but really they are a 48% partner in the hotel. The same company that owned it when it belonged to the Hilton brand, still owns it, and they are still criminals. They will charge your card, treat you disrespectfully and steal your items out of your room. If I had not pre-paid through Expedia, and had the back of my credit card company, I would be out. I threatened litigation against Hilton and they finally coughed up $500 as a partial payment, and between that and the chargeback I was able to obtain from my credit card company, and from Expedia, I feel Compensated. But I am lucky. I am a fighter. Do you have six months and 20 hours of phone arguments to try and get your money back? The best bet is don’t stay here. Let them rip off the locals. They changed the name of the hotel but it’s the same piece of garbage It was when I stayed there and it’s run by the same people.

Here is my original review “Clean, freshly unpacked and hung clothing was stolen from room and mysteriously returned (filthy and worn) after I contacted the manager, I was overcharged $950.00 on a pre-paid stay, which I had to perform a chargeback to resolve, and never received any explanation for. After I received and apology email from the manager, still with no explanation, and his person assurances that nothing else would be a problem, I could not get room service to deliver even coffee without a huge hour-long ordeal. They are clearly racist against white people and they hate Americans. Before you judge or assume things that are untrue about me, let me assure you that I am quiet, stay to myself, do not drink or party and generally have no interaction with the staff other than simple requests for roomservice and housekeeping. I keep my space clean and use the services sparingly. I am polite to all of the staff and always thank them for whatever they do for me and tip at 20% even though the normal rate is only 10% in GDL. This will be the ONLY honest review you read. Hiilton should immediately remove their brand at this location. I am actually suing *Hilton (now IHG) and Expedia for fraud. Pointless to sue the hotel as they are in Mexico but I am charging back the entire stay....28 days.”

This was written when Hilton still controlled it. In Mexico hotels cannot be owned by foreign brands. The controlling interest must be Mexican owned so they formed these different cartel backed corporations, which actually control all the major brands. Not just Hilton or Hyatt, but all of them. This one has now been sold to IHG, but the same corporation that controlled it before is still in charge and that’s where the problem lies. They are criminals and fronts for drug cartels and they behave as if they are. You have this problem in all of the hotels. Just to be clear. All of them are operated and formed in the same way. However, some of the hotels are more afraid of losing their brand recognition than this dump is. IHG has another wonderful property called the Presidente Intercontinental. It’s right down the street and you won’t have any of these problems. There’s also Hyatt in Andares, which is a beautiful Regency Class hotel. It’s really expensive though. If you’re going to be an IHG customer, stay at the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel. It used to be the show stop in Guadalajara but it’s a little bit older. It’s still beautiful and they hold service at a premium. They value their customers. Also, while this hotel, whatever they are calling themselves this week, the indigo, I assume, has a very cool interior, it absolutely has no property. You empty when you go out the front door into a very busy street with no stores nearby and nothing to do. It’s the most inconvenient hotel you could ever stay at. that’s it and good luck. If you read this and doubted it and stay there, you can only blame yourself for...

My boyfriend and I were in town for my friends wedding who chose this hotel for her guests and we agreed to book the stay (we were told by different people that celebrities stay there so we didn’t think anything bad about the hotel.) The bell boys and the receptionists were great. Specially bell boy Fernando and the other gentleman that was working the same shift as him. They were extremely helpful and had great positive attitude.

The restaurant looked pretty and the cocktails were delicious. The tortilla soup was good. The burger was tasteless. The octopus was spoiled and the buns that came with it were undercooked. My boyfriend took two bites and got FOOD POISONING from it. Service from the servers was great. Good humor and attentive. However, we found out my friend (the bride) had previously complained to Hilton’s corporate about rude servers & bad service that her and her guests had received before we arrived. According to her, she tried speaking to hotel manager but they never met or called her which is why she escalated to corporate. After she told us this we wondered if the service we had received from the employees at the restaurant was genuine or if it was due to the complaint.

Our room was pretty but I had a problem with the bathroom. It was not clean! There were stains on the walls that made it look and feel really dirty. The stain close to the toilet paper holder looked like it could’ve been fecal matter. The shower head was broken and could not be adjusted which made all the water spill out of the shower. I had to keep asking for extra towels to block the water from coming out into the bathroom. They were all things that could easily be fixed or cleaned if they paid attention.

We will not be staying...

I wanted to take a moment to share my recent experience of the Hotel 1970 Posada in Guadalajara. We made this booking for the end of October, as our family is in town for our wedding, as a Hilton Advanced Purchase. We got to the hotel and checked in, room 803, and all seemed to be well. After this, things went sour very quickly.

The room was great, and everyone settled well. It was not until later in the evening, there was no hot water. Contacted the front desk, and a gentleman by the name of Martin answered. We reported the issue and Martin replied with "We will send maintenance to your room to check it, " and immediately hung up.

After being moved to a room 4 floors below, room 410, we discovered that this room also had no hot water. We placed a call again to the front desk, and Martin answered. I identified myself and asked him how he was, and his response was, "What do you want??? "

Now I understand that people have bad days, but we contacted the Hilton Diamond Customer Support Center to file a formal complaint, and let them know of this opportunity for coaching of Martin. There seems to be a lack of professionalism with certain staff members of this hotel, Martin and a few others, and it is completely unacceptable.

We have since transferred to another property, and highly advise against staying at this property. Being a Diamond member and having spent so much time (and money) on/in Hilton properties, this one just doesn't make the cut. No one deserves to be treated this way, and if the staff here can treat someone with status this way, imagine how they treat...
