Hotel Victoria — Hotel in Mérida

(+) We chose this hotel since we were attending a convention at a nearby hotel on Paseo Montejo and it was within walking distance from it and from a Walmart. All other hotels were full. Staff was friendly. Shower with good pressure, acceptable beds. Good food.|(-) The hotel must have been nice when new, but it is now old, dark and everything is rather worn out. I'd been in a funeral home a few days before and the cafeteria was pretty much as dark and worn out as the hotel's restaurant. All furniture was worn out as well. The floors had holes on the tiles. The room was dark and I had to call maintenance to get the lamps on the side tables working as when I tried to lit one, the button came off. Didn't have a closet but rather a very old wardrobe. Everytime I opened it I feared the doors would rip apart. Note: My friend's room wardrobe had one door missing. But the worst thing was a very small step at the bathroom's entrance, of the same tile color as the rest of the room. As it was dark, it was not perceivable so I tripped twice on it and the second time I hurt my ankle badly + my wrist trying not to fall down. No floor sign to mark the step. My friends (3) told me of similar poor experiences with their rooms. One had her bathroom full of small flying insects that while harmless, gave it a very nasty look and feeling...

Zero star if possible !!!! First jacuzzi is dirty ! The maintenance guy put water in it without cleaning the tub before it . Second the fence is about to fail Third mold is all over the shower room 120. Forth the restaurant first server who come in our room give me dirty look and she’s doesn’t say thanks Fifth and worst the reception call at 12oclock and ask if we live o stay. I say live , so she say that I must to live now - when last night I ask to then incompetent receptionist Manuel to write it down that we gonna live arc 1pm and he smile at me and he say yes don’t worry . Sixth cherry 🍒 ING the pie 🥧, when I go to complain with the he supervisor Marisela May , she introduce as LICENCIADA (lawyer) like she wanna intimidate me - and I explain all above I asked if this is a 4 stars ⭐️ hotel and she say that it has no categories- I would Iike known why in google show 4 stars I ask her if she wanna make amend and she say to call her for the Next visit - i ask if she’s like to make amend now - Nothing Well, In my opinion this place will shoot down soon - I give less then 3 years before it go in bankruptcy

WHAT AN ADVENTURE!!! Everything was amazing during my stay. The location of the hotel is near so many things...the restaurants, the bakery with daily/fresh pastries and bread, the hospital, the malls, the monuments, the beaches, etc. The room, service and location was totally worth 2 weeks and I can't wait to go back. Housekeeping actually provided fresh, clean linen and cleaned the room spotless daily. The atmosphere allowed me to take my early morning walks while enjoying the view of statues and monuments. The streets had perfect lighting and the air was clean and crisp. The staff mainly spoke Spanish but tried there best to accommodate me by speaking slowly. If I had trouble understanding them we used technology via apps to help communicate conversations & questions smoothly. The staff at the hotel and restaurant on site made my stay memorable and made me feel like family not a guest....
