Villa Montaña Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Michoacán

We stayed at the Hotel over Christmas week. Our room was semi-attached to another casita and we shared a patio and a great view. There is a small pool, a spa that we used, a business center which I used constantly, and a restaurant bar. We did not have a car and cabs were easy and the concierge found a great driver who spoke English who took us places. I wish I had one more day to just lie by the pool and enjoy the view during the day. I would recommend it as opposed the the hotels closer to town, Also, at night you have the advantage of coming home by the lighted aqueduct . The only negative is that the hotel down the street can be a little noisy but that could be because of the holiday season. Morelia est la capitale de l'Etat du Michoacan qui subit (très injustement à notre avis ) la mauvaise réputation d'insécurité de la région ; Alertés en Famille , et rassurés par le " concierge " de l'hôtel qui parle un excellent français ( et américain !) , nous avons compris qu'il convenait d'éviter les régions au delà de Patzcuaro ( sierra et route vers le pacifique ) , nous avons donc pu sereinement effectuer en journée un tour superbe " Morelia , Capula , Quiroga , Patzcuaro et retour sur Morelia ; Mexicains vraiment ouverts , accueillants et " non agressifs" pour des ventes forcées , nous avons regretté de ne pouvoir avoir le temps de visiter accompagnés le parc national ; l'hôtel est vraiment "superbe", confortable et nous y avons passés 5 jours de grand bonheur et de véritables vacances en famille notamment autour du "coin piscine" avec vue sur la ville et la montagne ; visites passionnantes à Morelia , du coup préservée des "touristes" , shopping et soldes dans le nouveau centre commercial ultra moderne " Liverpool" ( avec deux fils de 25 et 24 ans , une belle fille et une petite fille de 8 mois c'est important aussi !!) Mention spéciale pour le Chef de la cuisine : ne pas " louper " le menu dégustation , cuisine Mexicaine digne d'un chef étoilé français et avons été particulièrement sensibles à une "compote" aux trois fruits préparée spécialement pour notre petite fille !! This place is so very pretty. It was some mansion once upon a time. Now you get to wander the beautiful property and enjoy a view of the twinkling city lights in the evening. My wife arranged for a private dinner with loads of candles, rose petals everywhere, a 5 course meal, and a dessert cake that was out of a picture in a foodie magazine!
