My wife and I just returned from an incredible nine-day vacation in Morelia, and one of the highlights of our trip was staying at the Maja Boutique Hotel. This charming hotel, nestled in a beautiful area overlooking the city, was absolutely perfect.

The staff at Maja went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. When we arrived late in the evening, Josue warmly welcomed us, helping us check in and feel right at home. He ensured we had everything we needed from the very start. Marlon, our amazing waiter, provided exceptional service and gave us excellent recommendations. Yvonne, the bartender, impressed us with her expertise, crafting some truly fantastic cocktails. Carlos serenaded us with beautiful Mexican folk music on his guitar during our stay, adding a magical touch to our experience. And Alan, the operations director, went out of his way to make us feel completely at home.

These are just a few of the incredible team members who made our visit special, but honestly, every single staff member did a phenomenal job. We are already looking forward to returning!

Beyond the hotel, the people of Morelia were warm and welcoming. This region of Mexico is rich in culture and history, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring it. Throughout our stay, we felt safe and had no issues whatsoever. We indulged in amazing food and drinks while immersing ourselves in the unique cultural experiences Morelia has to offer.

I highly recommend visiting Morelia and staying at the Maja Boutique Hotel—it’s an experience you...

For us, Maja is a destination hotel. If we could rate this hotel 11/10 we would. This is our second time staying at Maja and each time we are here we can't stop saying to each other that we can't wait to come back. The service, the view, the beds, cleanliness, the beautifully detailed property and most of all the FOOD make this a destination property for us. We are impressed that despite this being a boutique hotel, the service standards are on par with 5 star international chains such as the Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria.

The food makes the restaurant a destination in and of itself (it seems many locals do come just for a meal) and, given the quality, you would be hard pressed to find a better value in Mexico. Apparently four months ago they hired a well-known chef from Guadalajara to develop their menu and he and they have done a great job collaborating, as the kitchen staff has been able to execute the new menu perfectly. This is the reason why when we came in 2019 the food was very good and this past trip it was just DIVINE. We celebrated a special occasion here and Maja definitely made it special. The views from the property, especially at night, are spectacular.

We have stayed at dozens of 4 and 5 star hotels in Mexico over the past few years and Maja is in our top 3 - together with Rodavento in Valle de Bravo and the Sofitel in Mexico City - above/better than places such as Live Aqua in San Miguel and the Four Seasons CDMX.

Make sure to try to reserve a room...

From the moment I arrived at Maja I knew I was in for something special. This boutique hotel is a perfect blend of elegance, comfort, and warm hospitality. Every detail, from the beautifully designed rooms to the impeccable service, made my stay unforgettable.

The rooms were nothing short of stunning—thoughtfully decorated, immaculately clean, and incredibly comfortable. Every element, from the plush bedding to the stylish furnishings, exuded sophistication while still feeling cozy and inviting.

The service was top-notch. The staff was not only professional but genuinely warm and attentive. Every request was met with a smile, and they went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect.

And then there was the food—absolutely divine! Every meal was a culinary masterpiece, made with the freshest ingredients and presented with exquisite detail. Whether it was breakfast, a midday snack, or a multi-course dinner, each bite was an experience in itself.

We took the Monarca tour and it was a whole day tour, we try different food on the way and pass some incredible landmarks

We also have the romantic dinner and the whole experience was amazing

Maja is truly a place where luxury meets heartwarming hospitality. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel that exceeds expectations in every way, this is the one. I can’t...

Beautiful hotel, comfortable stay, lovely service, and gorgeous surroundings! This was my first trip to Mexico and there could not have been a more perfect hotel to introduce us to the wonderful city of Morelia. The hotel sits on the side of a hill and has a sweeping view of Morelia. On a clear day, you can see the mountains on the other side of the valley! Mornings and evenings are comfortably cool while the day is sunny and warm. The hotel staff are gracious, attentive, and always smiling and the rooms are fashionably appointed. Every room has a large TV, fast wifi, and comfortable beds. Part of the fun is that no two rooms are exactly the same — they all have their own view and quirks. The hotel offers plenty of comfortable lounging areas. You can tan by the pool, sit on the shaded patio above with drinks, or get work done inside the well-appointed lounge. The food and drink are expertly prepared at all times of the day. If you had nothing else you wanted to do, you could spend the entire time within the hotel grounds! Outside the hotel, there's plenty to do. From eating gazpacho to exploring the city of Morelia, the best parts of Michoacan are just a few minutes away from this boutique oasis of luxurious comfort.

Great boutique hotel; i started coming here for brunch on the weekends and they have an amazing brunch and beautifully manicured space outside. we stayed here for a night for staycation and the rooms, service, and food were all top notch. it's not really a walkable area, but once you're here you won't really want to walk anywhere. a haven for relaxation in the city!
