Villa Tayrona — Hotel in Nayarit

Staying at Villa Tayrona was an absolute dream! We couldn't have planned or even imagined a better vacation anywhere else. We had a party of 21 guests and this was the perfect private location for our group. Everyone in our group said "this is the best vacation I've ever been on".

First, Villa Tayrona is a small-family owned location with 9 private villas, some with a full-sized kitchen, air-conditioning, and private bathrooms. Villa Tayrona comes with Chef Patty as the in-house chef who cooked some of the best 3-course meals we've ever had (at a small additional charge: varying prices for breakfast, lunch, dinner - a complete menu to select various options), daily house-keeping service in the villas and throughout the compound, and A-Rod (Alex) who was able cater to us for anything that we needed (i.e., grocery runs, getting ceviche, making salsa/guacamole, making margaritas, and coordination on-site for the extra vendors that we added). The private villas were amazing, because everyone was able to get a bed that was comfortable, private bathrooms with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bath towels, and even beach/activity towels.

Elly (one of the owners of Villa Tayrona) personally worked with me in advance to plan an extravagant itinerary that included 7 meals on-site cooked by Chef Patty, a mariachi band (best mariachi singer we've ever heard), a group salsa dance instructor for all 21 people, a massage day on-site, transport to/from the Marina, Puerto Vallarta Zona Romantica, and the airport. Elly even helped me coordinate restaurant reservations nearby. Planning a vacation for 21 people abroad can be difficult, but Elly was able to quickly answer any questions that I had regarding our stay and was so incredibly responsive. Elly does this at no additional charge, which shows her dedication to Villa Tayrona and making sure that guests have the best stay possible. The staff at Villa Tayrona are absolutely amazing and will prepare coffee every morning, supply ice if needed, and cater to your every need. Talk about 5-star treatment.

The Villa itself has the most amazing pool that was more refreshing than the beach, a terrace & lobby for group activities, supply garage for anything you'd need, and the overall structure of it was so perfect for our group to intermingle and enjoy a private stay to ourselves. Each Villa is also very well separated with some private balconies for exclusivity, if desired. The location has so many tiendas nearby, a nearby bank, a large grocery store 10-min walk away, and it truly gave us a local feel that submerged us into the culture. From the house, you are literally a 9-minute walk from the beach (just have to cross the main drag). The beach is even better, and less-crowded, than those that you would find in actual Puerto Vallarta. There is also a nearby hospital (5-min) for any unforeseen circumstances.

It's worth knowing beforehand that these regions do prefer local currency, so it is important to consider and factor that in beforehand. There is a bank nearby, but sometimes the ATMs can have a long line. Note: for multiple people withdrawing money, it's worth walking to the big grocery market nearby, which has 3 separate ATMs if you have a lot of people trying to withdraw.

Elly, Andrès, Alex, Chef Patricia and the ENTIRE Villa Tayrona team are absolutely WONDERFUL! if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the PV area please look no further. This was the most wonderful experience I've ever had looking for accommodations from start to finish.

I planned by 30th birthday a year in advance for a group of 13 and Elly was so patient, kind, flexible, responsive, and helpful during the planning process. From helping divide up rooms, creating little favors for the doors, finding a decorator for balloons (check out the decor in the pictures!), to selecting a menu for dinner, Elly was always super engaged and helpful with all of our pre-arrival needs. Upon arrival the houseman, Alex, was PHENOMENAL! He helped us find places to eat, helped with out transportation details, and made the most delicious pina coladas we ever had. The housekeeping and pool maintenance staff were super friendly, helpful, and did an amazing job. We had breakfast everyday and one special dinner by Chef Patricia and everyone was in LOVE with her cooking. (She was also able to accommodate my friends no gluten/soy/dairy diet with EASE, she made the best GF pancakes he's ever had.)

The pictures of the space are only a glimmer of house BEAUTIFUL this space is managed. Everyone was in love with their room and how each room had its own special something, whether it was a patio, hammock, or indoor/outdoor shower. The villa truly lives up to the pictures and I think its even more beautiful in person. I am a plant person and all of the foliage was stunning. You can tell they take fantastic care of the space and we also appreciated the eco-conscious rules they had in place. The location was great as well. We hired a driver through a transportation company and it was easy for us to get picked up and dropped off from all our excursions. (Even on long trips, Chef Patricia and Alex were sure to pack us some snacks or leftover breakfast for our drives.)

I know I am gushing at this point but seriously, this was one of the happiest vacations I've ever had.

To start, the villa itself looks even better in person than in the photos—a rare and welcome surprise. The property strikes a perfect balance between communal gathering areas and private spaces, making it ideal for families or groups. Everyone could enjoy quality time together while still having room to relax and recharge.

We were planning a wedding from abroad, which is no small feat, but Elly was an absolute gem throughout the entire process. She was incredibly attentive, organized, and warm—truly going above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. Her support made what could have been a stressful experience feel seamless and enjoyable.

The house staff were outstanding—kind, welcoming, and the place was always very clean. Alex, the go-to guy on-site, was phenomenal, always one step ahead and ready with a solution for anything we needed. And a special mention must go to Chef Fer and his team, who delivered not just delicious meals, but a whole dining experience that was both attentive and fun. Every meal felt like a celebration.

One of the standout aspects of Villa Tayrona is how much love and thought Elly and her husband have poured into the space. Every detail, from design choices to guest comfort, has been carefully considered. The atmosphere is effortlessly cooling and tranquil, a true retreat where you can feel the stress melt away.

We couldn’t have asked for a better setting for our celebration, or a more supportive team to help us along the way. If you're looking for a beautiful, well-run, and heart-filled place to gather with loved ones, Villa Tayrona is it.
