Kitesurfing! Happened to visit during a perfect windy condition day. Scores of surfers filled the sky with their kites which made for a beautiful dance of sea birds and kites lofting on the currents. Spectacular. A walk on the beach lends a completely different perspective than a walk on the tchotchkes mew maw boardwalk. I highly recommend taking the pedestrian friendly beach. So much more to see. The wind also stirred up the surf which tossed battered sea life onto the tide-line. Along the sand there are eateries, food vendors and massage artists. Participate. You won’t regret it. Bucerias is known for their delicious oysters. They’re plentiful and families sit and shuck and slurp down dozens of them. In case you forget your shucker….. there are stands with all the fixins’ and bushels of cheap oysters. Get a massage for $400mx. An entire hour of blissful body pampering with ocean breezes and the sound of the waves to lull you into perfect passive perfection. If you have an entire day, rent an umbrella and chairs (inexpensive) and enjoy the sunset. There is a bus that will get you here, but I recommend paying to Uber or taxi from PV. Take a day to enjoy this soft white-sand,...
Read moreWe went to bucerias for a day because we've heard that bucerias and the beach is nice. Bucerias is still a small Mexican town, so don't expect luxury at first sight but a typical Mexican town. There is a market right at the center which is fine.
The beach at and near bucerias main square is quite narrow in comparison to the beaches in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Nayarit. So it can get a little crowded. Do not expect fancy restaurants at the beach but typical beach restaurants.
In other parts the beach was not particularly clean. Also there is quite a lot of construction noise at some parts of the beach.
It was OK to see Bucerias, but we didn't stay at the beach as there are nicer beaches nearby to...
Read moreA gorgeous, less crowded beach north of PV away from crowds. You can walk for miles. The undertow is hard though, so not that kid friendly. It's deceiving. And more buggy than Los Muertos. But less vendors and crowds. Hard to get to unless you drive. We took the bus and it took over an hour ( 2 buses from PV) and was very hot. Uber back was better...
