Lucky find for a solo female traveler! Very happy with my stay at Hotel Flor de Maria. The staff, the owners, the food and drinks are all 5 stars! Everyone was welcoming and seemed happy to be there. I also loved the traditional style of the hotel. The room was clean and cozy. There are beautiful murals, art, and plants everywhere... they really make the experience feel exotic and poetic. Delicious food is served at the hotel or you can try some great restaurants and venues at an easy 5 -15 minute walk down Av. Del Morro. (La Mariinera for ceviche and shrimp, Guino Café for yummy lattés, Paradise Gym for a workout on the beach) + Many stops for fresh coconuts :) You can swim at the beach in front in the morning, more wavy in the afternoon when I was there (February). A nice lil' 45 minute stroll down the beach will get you to spots you can swim in all day long. That area is called La Punta and has so many fun events to go to. (You can also pay 12 pesos to ride the "collectivo bus" that will get you to that area in 5 minutes.) I was surprised to hear that the hotel was 80%-100% full while I was there, it never felt crowded. The terrace and pool were so peaceful. The main barman Vladimir was warm, professional, and incredibly talented for making fresh drinks. He sets the tone for a soothing rooftop afternoon. It felt safe, as the gate is closed at night and there is always someone at the front desk. And laundry could be sent off from the hotel and returned within 48 hours. Sharing all this because I know it can be helpful info to have from the get-go. But know that staff is super available for questions and adjustments if needed. All-in-all, it was the lil paradise vacation I was hoping for. Well done!

I promise to update more later. Come back to read more. This vacation was mind and life changing for me. Was it solely due to Hotel Flor de Maria? Probably not entirely, however the kind and understanding hosts have choreographed the most beautiful dance of people supporting the hotel, and thus me. Remo was absolutely outstanding and helped me realize that there is a reason for an afternoon siesta. Also, he knows the best pizza place in town! Thank you to the breakfast ladies who let me know they would make coffee as soon as they arrived (6 am?). Thank you to the room staff who made me know that my belongings were safe. And thank you for washing and air drying my dirty clothing for a very small number of pesos. And, thank you to the horrible customer service at Kiwi dot dot dot Com who messed things up so badly and caused me to buy an additional airline ticket to get home... Because without their horrible mistake, I may not have been able to appreciate the respite vacation I needed.

This hotel is located perfectly. I took a short taxi to nearby beaches and its a 2min walk to zicatela Beach. It is very safe to walk down zicatela from the hotel. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The lobby is beautiful with beautiful paintings throughout the hotel The only downside to this is that the rooms aren't well kept. It looks like they painted everything in efforts to make it look new. Our bathroom had a window we couldn't close, letting in all the smoke from outside. Also, the bathroom si k faucet wasn't set in place. It moved when we opened and closed it. The AC worked great, however, the pipes were leaking I to the bathroom. That was the only downside. Other than that, it was a great stay.

My husband and I decided on a two week holiday in Puerto Escondido. We wanted to find a hotel that made us feel that we were really in Mexico. We wanted something special! Somewhere that had some Mexican charm! We found it at "Flor De Maria in Puerto Escondido. This hotel was situated in a very central location, close to everything we needed. It was very close to the beach which was the main reason we decided to book our stay. |When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly young woman. On the way to our room we noticed the beauty of the place. There was an inner open air courtyard with a towering palm tree and lovely flowers and plants everywhere. Up on the roof top terrace we could enjoy a sun set every night while relaxing in a beautiful turquoise hammocks. There was even a roof top pool to enjoy. We loved having our morning coffee and a full breakfast at the airy cafe on the first floor of the hotel. What made our vacation even more special was the kindness shown by all the people that worked at the hotel. If you are looking for a really relaxing place for your vacation, you won't be disappointed. We loved our stay and I am certain...

We enjoyed every minute of our five-night stay at Flor de Maria in March 2018. This was our third stay. The room was nice and clean and charming with painted doors and decor. The rooms are on two levels facing a central atrium and all floors are rustic tile. There is a top floor large deck with hammocks and tables and chairs, with sunny and shady spaces. There is a bar there too, with an attendant. Margaritas were good! The deck has expansive views of the beach and ocean, and is nice for hanging out for hours. The beach is only a few steps away. The proprietors, Joanne and Paul, are energetic and friendly and willing to chat or help if needed. They are English speaking and the clientele is primarily English speaking. Guests tend to want to read on the upper deck, and relax quietly, though of course there are things to do away from the hotel, such ad lagoon tours, beach walks and restaurants, etc. The restaurant in the hotel served very good food in a covered area open to breezes. Breakfast and dinner with full menus are available mid-November through first week in March, and continental breakfast only during rest of year. Prices are reasonable. The hotel is charming and friendly, rather than luxurious. Altogether, we loved our time at...
